Dyl003
Can anyone recommend gloves that are suitable for shooting in winter time? I have lots of normal pairs of winter gloves but I'm sure there must be decent ones that help with grip and feel but keep your hands fairly warm. Any suggestions? Largerider
Mac wet gloves, very good grip and feel through them.
jimmyb79
I struggled with Macwet, although I did have the thinner type. I'll be buying a pair of the climatec ones at the shooting show. The only downside to them is that they are not waterproof. At the moment, the best gloves I've ever used are Sealskinz hunter gloves (the ones without the foldback fingers) Waterproof, warm and thin enough to feel everything through,
TIGHTCHOKE
Leather flying gloves!
karm2803
I use seal skinz good grip waterproof and you can peel the index fingers and thumbs back for when you are doing fiddly things ooh erhh
malkiserow
I love my thin MacWet gloves and use them most of the time .... and yes they get wet but they still work OK. However, I did get a bit cold in mine in the sub-zero strong winds (and getting older!) so have decided to go for the Sealskinz Hunter model. My dilemma is that the green ones in my size have been out of stock at Sealskins for 4 months and will not be in until at least mid Feb. So the other colour Hunter glove is Black but not sure if this really matters for stalking. I would suggest use both MacWets for normal use and Sealskinz for when it is really cold. I brought hunters (black) for sub zero shooting and was not disappointed last weekend. Feel is no where near as good as macs but so much warmer. It's not that hard to load in Hunters and I can still extract empties from a non ejector without problem.

mossberg-operator
Sealksinz fine grip. Good enough to fly fish or shoot.
tx4cabbie
Dent shooting gloves are warm and comfortable, and the trigger fingers peel back and velcro in place - dexterity is good enough to load a shotgun, decent gloves.
kyska
Mac wet gloves, very good grip and feel through them. No way, known to my shooting circle as McColds, great for golf, terrible winter glove. I don't wear gloves unless I really have to, I use musto leather gloves, with a pair of stolen biogel surgeons gloves underneath.
longspoon
I use my lad's old black leather military gloves....work for me.
MrDaveO84
I use the mac wets as well, good grip but must agree they are not waterproof to any degree, I have the climatec ones but I only use them if I have too as I'm not keen on gloves but they're good enough to be able to load a shotgun in
norfolk dumpling
I hate wearing gloves if out with the gun but if it is really cold, wet and windy, conditions where your hands get extremely cold I wear a pair of riding gloves. Had them for several years (Mark Todd?), leather look, waterproof, thin and so far work for me. Check out your local equestrian store. Mentalmac
Why would you shoot gloves in the winter time? poor old gloves.
wymberley
Leather flying gloves! +1 But if you shoot sbs and have a grip problem then have done with it and get a pair of Gripswell. There's a winter option with Thinsulite lining.
Whitebridges
I can't recommend shooting in gloves. Luckily I don't suffer with cold hands. I sometimes use a pair of mitts like these. http://www.oliverbrown.org.uk/leather-shooting-mitts.html
arjimlad
Aldi fishing gloves for me. They are not the warmest but take the edge off the cold. My local store still has some in stock..
Good shot?
Aldi fishing gloves for me. They are not the warmest but take the edge off the cold. My local store still has some in stock.. Aldi neoprene gloves for me too.
srspower
Sealskinz are probably the best quality, I have a pair. Not cheap! But to be honest id rather have cold hands as I hate not being able to feel properly.
belly47
Aldi neoprene gloves for me too. and me, kept me warm so far and do not restrict me shooting with shotgun or rifle
Dyl003
I decided to go with the Sealskinz Hunter gloves in green and I gotta say I love them. Quality and fit is excellent, although I haven't been shooting with them on yet! Thanks for the advice all.
Blackpowder
Aldi neoprene gloves for me too. I have Snobee fishing and shooting gloves, complete with fold bag finger and thumb. Totally useless for me , in fact they make my hands colder. Yesterday for the first time this winter I wore ex army mitts separate with thumb and trigger finger. On the right hand mitt have I cut the thumb and forefinger off, and bound the edge with wool, cheap and effective. Blackpowder
EMcC
I read so many good recommendations about Sealskinz that I finally bought a pair of Hunters, a few pence short of £50.00 So far not impressed by the look or feel of them at all. The first disappointment was the label that said 'Made in China' !! What's all that about, surely we have a leather industry in UK that needs supporting. I have had Dents shooting gloves in the past very good feel through the thin leather and with the roll back option on the trigger finger if required, unfortunately so thin that they tear easily if going over fences or through bramble. My Sealskinz have thicker leather on the palm with a cotton/canvas material back, the leather does not feel very supple but may improve with use. Ex Army leather gloves are good and also mens gloves from Marks and Spencers. The leather on both of them gets more supple with use so am hoping my Sealskinz will improve too as they cost twice the price of the others, including the Dents gloves.
