955i
There is nothing the big two parties would not do to avoid the thing they fear the most......change!! The country and political system desperately need change. UKIP are currently the only other party likely to be in a position to cause that whether you approve of them or not.. My vote is undecided but it will be between UKIP or not voting at all I think.

keg
What a load of tosh, do you think your living in the enlightenment? There have been so many policies passed that only help the elite. DC and his cronies have only helped themselves and their friends. Really? increasing the personal allowance from £7.5k to £10.6k taking thousands out of taxation completely and if you earn over £100k, it reduces on a sliding scale until £120k when you do not get it at all. How is that helping his cronies?
timmytree
Why do so many people have trouble spelling the UKIP leaders name? Farage, only one "R" not two.

compo90
A lot of people vote on what they always voted, even though what they always voted no longer represents their position in the world. I really get annoyed at those who brand ukip racist, they aint, it isn't about colour or origins, its about looking after what we have in the uk, if me and the wife can't afford our bills we don't donate to charity, ukip want ties with the commonwealth and to limit eu migration. And it was 85% of hiv patients are foreign health tourists, this isn't right. We should have no unemployment if we need to import none skilled workers. The oz system of skills or money is what we should adopt. Keg, I think the tax break for millionaires is sticking in my throat a wee bit. +1 Add in the privatisation of so much public sector, to bullingdon friends

BRYAN3
Really? increasing the personal allowance from £7.5k to £10.6k taking thousands out of taxation completely and if you earn over £100k, it reduces on a sliding scale until £120k when you do not get it at all. How is that helping his cronies? That increase will mostly go straight to wealthy manufacturers and retail groups and a big chunk in vat. It really isn't likely to go on villas in the sun or sending their kids to uni. In any case they will probably lose benefits by going over a threshold somewhere. Any time a Tory gives you anything it is seen as speculation and they expect to get it back with interest.

Paddy Galore!
this tax allowance raise is a bit of a joke imo, let's see, an extra £600 tax free, am I right in thinking that's all of £120 extra in your pocket a year? I think i'd rather pay the tax and have a decent nhs or benefit service should the need arise.

margun
If labour get in again we are screwed. UKIP voters will be directly responsible should this occur. If you want change you will get it but not as you want it. this thread will be dredged up as evidence of those that made it so for PW eternity. We will be well and truly chuffed if Labia get in, just as we were when they finally got booted out last time. However I don't agree that UKIP voters will be the reason if they do. Tactical voting (for Tories rather than UKIP) was proven wrong at the last by-election where labia snuck in at Haywood with a handful of votes over UKIP with Tories quite a way behind. If those Tory 'tactical voters' voted UKIP then we could well have seen a demolishing of Labia. Obviously I assume there were a fair chunk of tactical voters. Also Scotland delivers a disproportionate share of Labia votes because 'that's who they vote for'; enough to swing things more than UKIP could. I would direct the flack at the Scottish if Millipede reaches Number Ten before putting the crosshairs on UKIP voters. I was always taught that if you don't vote then you can't criticise the Government. I'll take two biggies from this election- be able to criticise because I didn't put the Government into power, with head held high for voting who best represents my views. big bad lindz
Great discussion and lots of views but I have a question, what is the percentage of MP`s required in order to be able to form a government. Is it 50% or more or would it be whoever has the largest percentage and then have to discuss with the remainder the formation of a coalition ? So say for argument that both the conservatives' & labour have a similar number of seats but below 50% who has the lead in forming a coalition government ? Is it the party with the largest number of seats who then has to find support from other parties or could the smaller parties get together in order to form a majority.
