Underdog
What a great day shopping in the great super market! Three pheasants and a squirrel. Jess has come on great, flushing five birds, I am impressed. But not as impressed as with the hen I shot and broke a wing only! It ran down a stream and I followed. I was about to give up after 100yds but then Jess flushed it again! It did not fly but Jess waited for the shot! There was no shot! I was not going to shoot it again, she looked at me and I her and then without a single word she coursed it and pinned it down allowing me to take it from her. I was thrilled. To see this little dog come on as a hunter is just fantastic. Soon after Jess coursed a squirrel, said squirrel would not tree and the two had a great chase. The soft ground stopping Jess getting her power down and just for a moment there was some fast turns until the squirrel did tree. A 30yd shot of #7 had it down instantly and Jess pounced! She got bitten by the squirrel at which point the true terrier came out! I rewarded her efforts with tasty squirrel shoulder. She then went on to flush another bird and once shot helped me find it. She has been a little gem of a dog. Good girl Jess U.

Still better out in the fresh air than sitting indoors watching rubbish on the box..... Tedly

There is something so real but so indefinable about shooting with a dog that totally understands you and the purpose that you feel, for those few moments, like equals.
