ratty1
Now that the season is nearly over, how have your new fowling coats been, especially with the wet weather, I'm in desperate need for a new fowling/ stalking jacket, must be 100% waterproof and silent when stalking, I like the look of the Ridgeline monsoon but it's a tad pricey. Any recommendations?
TIGHTCHOKE
Buy the Ridgeline Monsoon, look around and you can find them on offer!

marsh man
My fowling coat was new about 10 years ago , its a Le Chameau with a hood on , it cost around £150 when I bought it which to me was a fortune but over the years it was money well spent , it is silent , waterproof and warm . now showing signs of wear ( like me ), and if the good lord spare me for another season that ole coat will still be doing the business . fenboy
My Pintail smock has just had its third season , I shot in a downpour a few weeks back and it leaked like a sieve up until then I had been happy with it , the only issue I did have was that the outer would let water through but it was stopped by the inner skin it then runs down and finds its way into the pockets. mudpatten
I`m still using a 7 year old Deerhunter Ram jacket which cost about £65 from Marsh farm Country supplies and is still completely waterproof. Brilliant value for money. Marsh Farm specialise in the bulk purchase of end of production run deals and do some great bargains on their ebay site. Although they seem to be popular I would not buy another smock. One overheats during exertion and you have no way of venting it. Pulling a smock, the bottom of which is caked in esturine mud, over ones head can also be a bit problematic.
Smokersmith
My new jacket was a Kobuk Neoprene jobbie. Only needed to wear it once on an moon flight .. kept me warm though. The rest of the season all my old Drake layering stuff was fine .... too warm a season to really need anything special round here.
anser2
My favorite fleece jacket is 8 years old now and still 100% waterproof. It cost £35 from a country show and has no name tag. My Redhead American waterfowler jacket is the same age , cost nearly £200 and only lasted one season before letting in even a light shower. Still wear it on dry days , but the fleece was less than a quarter of the price , 10 times better than the Redhead and is my main wildfowling\pigeon shooting jacket. oowee
I just bought the Shooterking Greenland jacket, after the failure of my Seeland coat. Of all the stuff I looked at it's the only web site that talked about the specification of materials in detail. I don't know how it will last but what I see it looks very well thought out and put together. Fingers crossed
Tomo-1
I got myself a Jack Pyke Hunters Jacket at the start of the season to replace my leaky old Barbour. I must say that for a budget price you get a lot of jacket! It has been superb. Warm, but not too warm, totally silent and 100% waterproof so far. Highly recommended. I also have the matching trousers which are also spot on. I have been siting in marsh mud many times and they kept me dry. They are alittle baggy around the lower leg area but it's not a problem. Highly recommended.

I agree about the smocks , I will not have another , I brought one thinking no zip was one thing less to leak but the disadvantages out weigh the advantages , plus they are a pain if you have chest waders under them a need a quick P
grahamch
Have used a Herters from Cabelas for the past 3 vseasons and is fine. Only prob was pockets used to fill up with rain water so put two eyelets in the bottom of pokcets and now fine. Also have a Jarret Rivers West - warm and waterproof but non breathable which is a pain on a long walk

Scully
Have had a Musto jacket for at least 10 years now and with the exception of a small rip in one sleeve it's still an excellent jacket. I also have a Laksen jacket which is around a similar age, given to me by a mate who never wore it. I have never been cold nor wet in this jacket; not even in the wildest weather. panoma1
I have had a Duckdri (British) wetlands camo jacket for the last 15 or so seasons, I bought it from the Duckdri stall at the Midland GF, it remains in excellent order and is still waterproof!............I have used it on every flight since I bought it!.......On Monday and Tuesday of this week I shot morning flight both days in rainy and windy conditions........and came off gooseless but dry and warm! One of my better purchases!
mudpatten
I too have had a Duckdri and found it to be excellent. The only reason I never bought another was that they don`t make any larger than a 3xl whilst I now take a 5xl.
landy george
Use a Rivers west jarret in the warm part of the season but the zip is starting to go after just 2 seasons. Rivers west eider for when it gets cold but looking forward to next season. I've just imported in the sale a cabelas 4 in 1 parker which looks like it's going to be very warm, just hope it's waterproof.
Doriboy
I bought a redhead start of the season. The zip is a nightmare, the inner jacket is too big so it bunches up around my neck, the stitching is coming apart, the pocket liners are too thin and are starting to split.... TJC
I got a Harkila Pro Hunter this season. Seriously expensive but so far it's been excellent. Warm, waterproof, quiet, decent pockets, great hood. I liked it so much I went back for the trousers.
