old'un
Rant..... Don't know if its just our ALDI but I can not help noticing the amount of fresh, chilled or frozen food that people have put in their trolley, then decide they don't want it and just dump it anywhere even seen fresh produce dumped in the freezers. Rant over.....

four-wheel-drive
One has to think that perhaps it would be an idea if instead of putting sweets and toys by the tills in supermarkets they could have a place for people to put stuff that for whatever reason they do not want it really bugs me when I see say a packet of pies just put in with the dry food do they not get it that if not spotted quicky it has to be binned. Dougy
Also kids poking holes in the plastic covering of food, chickens, joints of meat and anything else they can do it to. while I worked on the meat counter at one of the supermarkets for 11 months and 3 weeks (not that I was counting) I once served a bit skirt that thought that she was the bees knees with some expensive cut of meat. She shortly after dumped it on one of the shelves. I remembered it so well that the next time I saw her out of the shop I asked her if she couldn't afford it then she should of had some neck of lamb instead. Oh it went down really well. snobby heifer
mel b3
I find this kind of thing really scummy , it really is a sign of the times . I went into primark about five years ago , I felt ashamed for the people in there and the way that they behaved, they were just throwing shoes and clothes on the floor , those filthy scumbags shouldnt be allowed to mix and shop with decent people. bruno22rf
It's odd but in Aldi when I find something "dumped" or fallen from a display - I do my best to put it back - whereas other Supermarkets I couldn't give a toss
four-wheel-drive
I also get annoyed when I get bread the bread is freshly made each day so why do people feel the need to squeeze each one they all went into the oven at the same time and came out at the same time I rarely tack the ones in the front as I do not want one that some other stupid bitch has been mauling it. The same goes for milk people keep pulling them out to look at the date on them do they not get it modern s-skimmed milk you can keep for weeks they take all of the fat out and that is what goes off I buy milk in bulk 3x6pints and it lasts me up to two weeks in the fridge with no bad taste at all the same goes for bread. DrBob
Just Google "Overheard in Waitrose", various collections of pearls from the self-proclaimed upper tier. There's also " overheard in Aldi"...... Edited September 1, 2016 by DrBob

four-wheel-drive
you keep bread In the fridge for up to 2 weeks? Yes and its the sort that has all of the seeds in and it just does not seem to go off I do not no what they put in it to make it last so long. ( I have to eat it as the birds refuse to eat it if I put it out for them )
Lloyd90
Yes and its the sort that has all of the seeds in and it just does not seem to go off I do not no what they put in it to make it last so long. ( I have to eat it as the birds refuse to eat it if I put it out for them ) What's what worries me! Watched a great show on Netflix about the five most basic foods, the one on bread was great, the original recipe of flour water and yeast now has over something like 47 ingredients for commercial produced bread! shaun4860
I happen to know at Xmas for bread a very well known bakery puts extra fat in the mix to make the bread feel softer,as it's not all fresh daily, again at Xmas it may have stood in the bakery for an extra day, they just put different date labels on, At Easter they flash freeze the bread buns and store them so they can build up a stock
39TDS
Bread stores better at room temperature than chilled. Ask Bakerboy. All to do with starch make up.
amateur
At Easter they flash freeze the bread buns and store them so they can build up a stock With hot cross buns, these are made throughout the year and held in frozen storage until just before Easter. They could not otherwise bake enough to meet demand
jloc
The thing that's gets me is people who think it's a ok to give the kids food and drinks before they've even paid for it ! What's the world coming too ! Surely they can't be that hungry or thirsty...

What's the world coming too ! Surely they can't be that hungry or thirsty... I don't have any great problem with that provided they do pay and not just hide the wrapper somewhere. My kids grown up but I often pay for empty wrappers at the supermarket. You can be fairly confident the supermarket hasn't paid their supplier for it yet anyway. Fix that and I promise never to do it again.
norfolk dumpling
My wife works p/t in the clothing section of a well-known supermarket and the tales of woe are a daily event. She spotted one largish lass removing knickers in the store - having done a double take wifey walked back to find said underware hanging on a rail and lady had disappeared. Net result of course is a 3-pack that had to be reduced in price and the ones which had been tried on we're disposed of. She does also find a lot of discarded food in clothing area and of course if it is from chilled or frozen it has to be disposed of although very little from their company goes into landfill as they recycle or turn into fuel through various means. She hates school holidays - they sell huge quantities of school uniforms - as she not only has to watch the parents but also the badly behaved brats and some should have been put down at birth!
