kyska
Well, finally happened, Mates 56 plate Navara chassis has cracked, awaiting inspection from powers that be then taking it from there Shaun, my shooting buddy got a VERY nice payout, and got a hire 4x4 for the time the chassis snapped and payment. Funnily enough the hire car was a ranger.
mr smith
There's a scrap yard in Inverkeithing with a row of these must be at least fifteen of them there. All lying looking like a ship with a broken back I assume that the chassis must have been cut to stop them being sold on. Nope! That's the fault, the weakness is just behind the cab, the chassis rusts through from the inside out so can't be treated and then they just snap in half! BrowningDJC
I know of a couple, and Nissan have given very good pay outs on both of them.

johnnytheboy
i was talking to shooting bloke who had navara chassis snap and nissan refused to buy back as the vehicle had non genuine tow bar fitted and not alot of service history I would have taken that to court, the faults not the tow ball or lack of routine servicing when it's rife all over the age range of those cars! There is a Facebook group family called Nissan navara snapped chassis group, loads of info on there!
scotslad
If u had a navara that is still intact could u plate bolt/weld the vulnerable section?? I imagine the 2nd hand value will have went throu floor. Be a good time to buy 1 if u could strengthen the weak area

SimpleSimon
Shame really, I wanted a pickup next year and the Navara was up there with the favourites until I read about this! Maybe I'll just keep my Xtrail a bit longer... Edited February 7, 2017 by SimpleSimon

Maybe I'll just keep my Xtrail a bit longer... Not just the navara this happens on, l200's can go the same. There is one on eBay at the moment that has snapped in half in the same place the navara does.
Davyo
Just been on Northeast news,Nissan saying it's only effected a small number of vehicles.Even though there is around 18,000 reported, saying they won't do a recall as not dangerous lol. Must be waiting for someone to get killed then.

Whitebridges
My Navara keep on trucking. It's coming up for it's first MOT and in view of all the comments will ask about it's back breaking. Personal experience, i think it's a fantastic motor. landy george
A lad I work with does car recovery in his spare time has a picture of about 50 all parked in the scrap yard with there roofs cut off. People have been buying them & plate the chassis so now their cutting off the roof to make them worth less.

It's a real shame they are doing this, surely someone could have knocked up a galvanised chassis, would have been a good wee business! landy george
Their doing it to stop people repairing them, they've all been paid out by nissan. Don't know how the pay out works, its just what i was told. Edited February 11, 2017 by landy george
