wandringstar
if you are a fencer, tree surgeon or roofer, you just got busy if you weren't already. I remember 3 years ago, you couldn't buy fence panels, a bloke round my way bought the lot and was marking them up for everybody to line his pockets. Great idea. Walker570
Went down my wood but really did not want to be there . It was roaring and the 80ft poplars were doubled over. Did shoot a Jay on a feeder though. Retrieved the dustbin from 60yrds up the road. The wind is now easing a bit. Hope you all stayed safe. arm3000gt
Wind seems to be easing here in Newbury too. Survived with one broken fence post and panel already ordered replacement hopefully some left by the morning. Quite a few trees and powerlines down in the area. kennett
Looks like I have a busy day at work on a saw tomorrow! Already cleared the top a sycamore from the main road and a million little branches from everywhere. Since we left at 4, 4 trees have gone over or pulled their root plates up and fallen into the next tree. Wish me luck!

digger
Can't post the link but on the BBC news site there's dashcam footage of an ivy clad tree falling into the road. Nothing unusual given the weather. However after the tree has settled a somewhat bemused woodie flies out of the ivy.
