silver fox 1
Just got five minutes to myself sitting here with a cup of coffee thinking. Well to cut a long story short the wife has been hinting that she would like a dog, from past experience I know that dogs can be a bit of A fashion so was wondering what the in thing is at the moment as she hasn't said exactly what she wants yet but I know it's coming. So what dog does your other half have for House/ lap dog. sf1

figgy
Anything crossed with poodles, pugs or French bulldogs are popular. Poodle crosses don't shed lots of hair so are popular. Daschunds are also popular of late.

So what ever she picks would have to get on with the spaniels

cuffy
Her newish toy is a miniture schnauzer . Seems to be down the hairdressers quite a bit but it gets on well with the cockers and it's got some entertainment value .
saddler
We've got two mini dachshunds. A rescue smooth hair & a wire haired we got as a pup. Brilliant personalities...friendly & laid back and take up next to no room. The wire haired don't shed so good for people with allergies. ...though the smooth haired seems to have this trait too. (Compared to my old Parson) Smooth haired has very silky feel to him, like stroking a rabbit. He loves carrots too. ....hang on a minute! Lots of local Facebook groups for socialisation walks & events. When you've gone Dachs you don't go back....

loriusgarrulus
Schnauzers are very noisy. My sister has two and they bark at everything, so its something you have to prepared to put up with.
kyska
I've got a new lab due soon, she's still on mum at the mo. I can however not recommend a patterdale, my old lad is due to be put to sleep soon, so he's not too much bother, but by God in his prime.... He has free range of the farm, he was like a nuclear weapon, he'd stay in a barn until it was void of all known life, did holes in the middle of the garden lawn because he'd heard a worm, start fights with anything, other dogs, the bull, the ram, anything was fair game to him. Fantastic little dogs to have around, happy to walk miles or sleep all day. Theres currently 8 at the girlfriends parents ( 3 will be going back to their homes soon! ) If you sit on the floor they all try climb on for a fuss! Mr.C
Border terrier. No doubt about it. True, still very fashionable dogs here in the rugged outdoors of Londons West End. You need a pair though.
loriusgarrulus
If you are not fixed on getting a puppy it might be worth looking at rescue greyhounds if you haven't got cats or any freerange chickens etc. Lovely nature, very elegant and only need a couple of 20 minute walks a day. No dog grooming parlour bills either.
