The processor is vastly superior in the SE as is the camera. My ex has the SE and it blows mine out of the water. Cracking phone!

Seconded I really like mine, perfect size and pretty capable. Add to that pretty cheap now as people just assume it’s the same as a 5

Im not very techy but i have used samsung for several years. Now im wondering if they are at the same thing.

I have been getting pestered to upgrade to a newer model but ignored them. Then about 2 months ago i noticed apps and images started to appear on the phone and its now slowed down considerably.

Android version 7 installed on my Samsung A3 3 weeks ago from ver 4 and its pooh.I dont Instagram or Facebook ever <stoopid peeps wafflebox>but it installed them as core programs and all else as u say is much slower. So it looks like your  right and Samsung want a share of the upgrade ripoff market .Make your phone slower to persuede you to buy a newer 1 when u dont want to ?:hmm:

Cheap? I ain't seen one cheap? I only paid £50 for my 5s open to any network! If I could find one for £100 I would leap at it!

£21 a month with unlimited minutes and texts and 5gb data on Vodafone makes it cheap.  They also suggested it would be paid off handset wise in just over 6 months which was the first time they have mentioned that before to me

You've got me thinking now, I've a S6, coming up to the end of a 2yr contract battery life is totally naff along with wi-fi connection dropping all the time.

Plenty users complaining on the web/forums etc, had three updates recently IIRC but none have addressed the issue.

Batteries by their very nature, will start to degrade from around the 5th charge, after 2 years it may only have 50% of its original capacity, less if you leave it flat for any length of time.
As you load more apps and use memory, this further slows the phone, if you can, a factory reset will spruce up its performance a little.

Whats annoying about the iphone issue, is that some of the phones they are throttling back, are not 2 years old yet, also , if the phone cannot handle the new software without degrading battery performance, then its either a poorly written update, or not suitable for certain phones.
The very idea of an update, is to streamline and improve the software, not kill the phone so you have to get a new one.

Apple have not become the financial behemoth they have ,without some pretty aggressive business practices.
They are content to keep milking their fans/customers, without really giving much back in innovation.
But in this case, to my mind, this is a very blatant attempt to force  people to purchase a new phone, or upgrade, when it may not have been prudent or financially viable.
Ill say it in plain English, they have throttled back the processors on older phones, to make the newer ones 'seem' much faster.

Fortunately they have been caught out bang to rights on it.

My old Android phone (4 years old (possibly even 5) last November) has poor battery life now, but I can't complain given the amount I've used it and the time I've had it, plus the price I paid for it. About 1/4 of the price of an iPhone X! I'll replace with another Android phone, wouldn't consider Apple products.

They're all at it! I called EE the other day as my contract has run out. And as i was told by some money program, as I've finished paying for my phone i was entitled to a drop in my monthly charge.. Initially they said it wasn't true. I stuck to my guns and said i knew i was entitled to lower payments, and if they didn't lower them i'd leave EE. Eventually they put me on a 30 day contract with less minutes and data. I was happy with this as i used less than what they gave me anyhow. I said i would probably have a new contract, and stay with EE if the deal was OK. I left it at that. But the thing that shocked me, was i had gone from a **** signal, to a really good one in all the rooms we have in our house. It's been **** where we are since we moved some years ago. It's very co-incidental that when i said i was shopping on the net for a good deal with a good signal, my phone miraculously has a great signal all around the house. Yet my wife, who's on the same account/contract isn't due for a new phone upgrade for a while, and she still has a **** signal. Very suspicious to say the least!
