buze
friday with a mate, and saturday with Mrs, for me. I agree that it's expensive and there's few 'deals' but I still manage to get some good deals last year. Also it's nice to meet the people I know, it's a small world. Guest topshot_2k
Im going friday so hopefully won't be too busy. £17 is hardly expensive for a day out, nearly costs that for a ticket at the cinema . Although there isn't loads of deals like a few years ago I have managed decent discounts by haggling with dealers.

The Heron
Have been to the show today if you are going Saturday or Sunday take your own food and drink long queues and very expensive **** a lot of exhibitors from Stoneleigh are not there probably due to the cost of the stands NEC. NOT EVEN CLOSE to Stoneleigh.
buze
I kinda agree -- It somehow feel 'smaller' -- theres a huge area in the middle for shows (that I didn't care about); everyone's stand is pretty small, and I felt there's quite many of the smaller 'mom and pop's' shops that I particularly enjoyed before that aren't there at all. Also, the ailes are quite narrow, so even on a friday, there were times you'd get stuck; tomorrow is going to be fun... Oh yeah, bring your own sandwich, save 1/2h ;-) I actually didn't buy anything, apart from shares in fieldsport.tv -- it's quite unusual as I always try to buy stuff to support the smaller shops. There's some nice gun porn tho, if you are so inclined. A stand has 5 or 6 purdey hammer gun, boxed, all lined up -- very nice. All of them >£10k, not so nice ;-)
TK421
Thanks for the update, was planning on making the trip down tomorrow with the old man, but may give it a miss and just head to a couple of local gun shops as and when I’m ready to make a purchase. Should of gone today in all honesty just could get the time of work.
Walker570
Agree with almost all of the above. I felt that the large barn of a place did not give the same feeling as Stoneleigh. There was a lot of people there attempting to get down the alleys and see the stuff displayed on either side. I did have an excellent breakfast which should have been called brunch considering the length of the queue but did not know the cost as my friend treated me. Very little tat about the place which was good. I think Sunday afternoon there are going to be a few bargains going. There was some good discounts on clothing if you didn'r want to pay for a fancy name embroidered on it. If you had a spare two grand then Entwistles had a top grade Yilditz 410 on show which I had to walk away from quickly. The engraving would not make it shoot any better than the model I have for less than half the price ...but it was nice.
deershooter
A very disappointing day the show as no where ne'er like stonleigh very compact small narrow walkways ,if some one stopped to talk no one went any where .The que for coffee was 1/2-3/4 of an hour and expensive . The signage was non eggsistive so you had no idea where you were . The map in the free brochure was drawn by a 6 year old over 3 pages with writing so small you needed a magnifying glass to read it . Luckily I found some 9mm ammunition cheap enough to get buy with which made the trip worthwhile.
Rim Fire
I enjoyed it i thought it was a bit tight between the rows of stalls Sunday will be the day if you are after a bargain the amount of stall holders that told us to come back on Sunday as they didn't want to take it all back with them
cheddletonkev
Hi Never been before but went with four others who have been going for years on Friday i do not think any of us will go agian basically a large indoor market with a lot of cheap clothe stalls mixed amongst shooting stalls busy and cramped if you are thinking of buying anything save your time and money look on the internet find a dealer with what you want and have a drive over This is not a shooting show just a indoor market you have to pay to go into
powler
Went yesterday, like many have said found it cramped and would of been nice to be able to walk around and look but found it an uncomfortable experience, took our own sandwiches so luckily missed the queue for food. Wanted to hold the tikka tx3 rifle(after a.223) but they had them locked up tight which was bloody annoying all the other makes I tried where on steel cable so I could get a feel for them. Overal with the show I came away feeling that it was poorly organised with a right mess at the beginning of the day lots of people queuing to get in and the lack of space down the aisles, glad im not going today. Oh and the stores with the guns in are so narrow you cant easily get in there to look at the guns. Would I go next year? Probably not. Mick Think this will be the reason I go to a bricks and mortar place. I was hoping to shoulder a few SG and have a chat about fit, judging on the feedback so far this seems like it would of been impossible to do, due to the volume of people and most kit on lock down. Pity as in theory this would of been a great all in one place option. Think I’ll just try a few of the main places in the North/NW. Premier , malmo etc etc... thanks again for the heads up guys, save me a lot of hassle, traffic jams, queuing, oh and money ?

matone
Who organises these shows ,they seem to be devoid of imagination.Surely not difficult for an exhibition centre to design a properly proportioned layout that enables people to see what they`ve paid to see. safc1973
Agree with the above - Managed to see a couple of shotguns and an airgun early on but after 10am just too crowded. On the plus side a trip to Rugby Gun Shop later and have bought a nice 2nd hand MK38 for less than anything I saw at the show. Can definitely recommend the shop and Barby Sporting Club where I tested it.

Walker570
I have to admit I must have annoyed one stand owner. He was selling these catch penny add on front fancy sights for shotguns and two guys where trying numerous different colours and sizes just as I walk by and I could not help but burst into laughter. It's a free world and you spends your money how you wish I sippose.
buze
Was there today as well with the Mrs; before 2pm it was heaving really, could hardly move in some of the ailses . Luckily we managed post lunchtime to find ourselves some gin+tonic (won't tell you where from ;-)) and by the time we were done sipping, things had cleared up a bit and it was a lot nicer to have a walk around. We did buy stuff; leather goods and pretty good prices, but the best 'goodies' we got were spinners from a shop near the far-end-right, they sell excellent, fantastically built target stuff like spinner, 'catcher' boxes for pellets and plenty of other stuff. Anyway, 3 spinners, 10 quid. you get to pick between 3mm (airgun) and 5mm thick steel for rimfire. Two thumbs up. And yeah a few other bits and pieces. But after a bit of discussion, we won't go there next year. We'll just spend two days at the game fair instead - free entry, and many, many more shops. Also, *many* more food stalls so you can sit have have a proper lunch.
Cosd
I didn’t go this year. Having been to a few, they are not that different year on year. So I tend to go every two or three years and enjoy it for what it is. Depending what you’re after, if factor in the cost of getting there, entry and food, you’d be quids in giving your money to a local shop where you will also build a relationship . Last time I was looking for a semi auto, I went to the show with little confidence that Id get a bargain. It was somewhere to get to see and feel all the guns I read about in magazines and that helped me make a choice.
