winnie&bezza
Afternoon all, I bought a little Acier Martin 20b SXS off of Mr bosher a year ago and have finally done what I have wanted to do to it except getting barrels re-blued. Mick (bosher) said he would leave the stock alone but I just couldn’t resist getting that grain showing even more being a wood lover (now now). I made a new walnut pad as it was a little short for me. The cheapest gun I’ve boughg but my favourite I think, just such a beautiful little thing. https://piccollage.com/_iVwsbuq0 https://piccollage.com/_ECIwequI https://piccollage.com/_3QLGNlLA https://piccollage.com/_VvX7kl8k https://piccollage.com/_ucxMgY5 https://piccollage.com/_d9pyXJQo Owwww I wanted pics to show and not be links. Nevermind.

TwoSmokingBarrels
Looking to get the stock on my AYA No2 sidekick re finished. Is there anything you can advise me on? I'm after the finish you have achieved, with my AYA sporting a similar looking finish to what you started with. Great work and great looking grain! Well I’m by no means a stock finishing expert and this was my second that I had done. There’s a lot more expertise in this field on here with the likes of welshwarrior to name one. All I did was clean off old finish with fine wire wool and meths. Some experts wouldn’t use wire wool as it can leave little metal fibres in the wood but I didn’t have that problem. I gave the stock to a friend of mine who is a french polisher and he filled the gouges with hot wax. I then used trade secrets alkanut oil first giving the bare wood 3 coats. I didn’t need to fill the grain. I then gave it 14 coats of trade secret rapid oil finish. Thin coats rubbed in til warm. I may have done something wrong along the way but I’m happy. cheers 8 hours ago, ditchman said: i do like sideplates free of engraving...................its sort of "less is more"..............that is a nice little piece.. Go for it mate 👍🏻 12 hours ago, moor man said: You sir have breathed a new lease of life into that gun. Stunning wood and action, you have done a top job👍well done! Yes, the little gun deserved it. Just for the barrels now. Not doing that though. Cheers 11 hours ago, figgy said: Very nice figured stock and the oil brings it and shows it off well. Cracking job that makes the gun.
