Biggest bugbear for me, is some sites and programs will not let you use true English only American English. Some that will have a spell check that tries to make you use the American English, a sly way of enforcing the use of z in place of s and bastardising of far to many English words, to the point you get so used to seeing the American spelling, you start to doubt that you have spelled words correctly.

The text speak was good when you had to make three or four presses of the phone keys to compose a text, but modern phones make this unnecessary and just show a either a lack of manners or laziness.

What I do as a matter of course is to read through my replies before I post them. This usually eliminates spelling mistakes. Others obviously do not do the same.

My lesson was learnt when I opened a thread on corvid shooting and I posted that the 'two cows on the rotary were bringing others close in'.

Yes, I think this might explain the quite common use of the word 'defiantly' rather than 'definitely'....auto correct isn't always your friend.

As we are both having a bit of banter, it would be churlish to list them all. :)

I don't have the time or the inclination, but trust me, they are easy to spot.:good:

I don't bluff. I'm sure if you look hard enough, I will have dropped the odd clanger. Not in your mega clanger league, but not perfect.

Then again, I didn't start the thread - you did. A bit ironic really.:lol:

The trouble with posts like this is you will putt other members off posting i myself don't give a toss. As someone once said to me if you can understand it what is the problem

I embrace the modern age of poor spellin and that grammar stuff....I am a rubbish speller and have terrible handwriting, this is a result of a rubbish school with rubbish teachers and idiotic pupils. oh and the fact that I rarely went.. anyway these days you can hide behind text speak and typo errors oh and predictive thing.....all is good

Totally agree. This is a forum for shooting and not for scoring points on the rights and wrongs of spelling, syntax errors and grammatical abominations. Lets keep to the subject and encourage everyone to participate.

But the subject is "Off Topic":whistling:

KB1 - I haven't a clue why you started the thread, as you are ill-equipped to judge the spelling and grammar of others. You do seem a bit reluctant to accept that your own written work is not brilliant, for reasons that escape me. I suspect that, when you say I am bluffing, you can't find fault in your posts. Sack the guide dog and start looking. It isn't that hard.

A cynic might come to the conclusion that you can't find the faults in your own work, but have a special ability to spot errors elsewhere. That is a special talent that you have there, albeit very selective.

It is clear that others on the Forum care less about whether something is 100% perfect and focus on the actual content. That is the right thing to do.

Whilst this is predominantly a shooting forum, the best threads I have read concerned Land Rovers, boats, welding and a moped. The junior dig about "Off Topic" is just a bit silly.
