Houseplant
I think you guys would be genuinely shocked at the levels of political correctness, colonial guilt and virtue signalling that goes on in NZ regarding colonisation. Not only is it supported and of course, funded by the state (i.e. the tax payer), it has a legal framework and affects every aspect of life, especially state sector services (e.g. education; healthcare etc). Scully
Unless I’ve read it wrong there was no apology, so they’re not ‘apologists’. I have no problem anyone expressing regret for the things their ancestors did, but would have a problem with an apology. Apologising for something my ancestors did is akin to me apologising for the actions of Peter Sutcliffe on the basis we’re both male. The idea is ridiculous. I could understand today’s Germans expressing regret for the actions of Hitler, but I wouldn’t expect them to apologise.

Pretty much this ^^^ I recently had a discussion on the effect of colonialism in Africa with a former Miss World Kenya, although it had served me well in the past, she didn't take me up on my offer to personally make it up to her 😉 Edited October 3, 2019 by Raja Clavata

Retsdon
Pretty much my philosophy.... “It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them.”― P.G.
