Including the observation by a police officer that ‘95% of hare coursing’ is done by travellers. not a surprise to many I’m sure, but really shines a light on the problem. In response to criticism, the police seem to now push a hard line, politically correct “diversity” agenda, presumably in order to prove they are not institutionally racist? Our police are great, very militant as we have bye-laws preventing them and the one designated site is unattractive for them. It pulled very few punches, and basically said , the travelling community are disproportionally criminal, but most people who have ever had any dealings with them know this already , as do the police. The problem is , they have minority 'protected ' status, so we have to be very careful we dont upset them. The tide is changing though it would seem , and dragging serving police officers down the road to their death, has turned that tide. Expect some changes to the way they are dealt with in future.
