marsh man Posted May 20, 2023 Report Share Posted May 20, 2023 We know Summer is just around the corner when you hear the first call of the Cuckoo , heard mine yesterday along with the almost every morning boom of the Bitten , also the Great Egret on the marshes is now becoming a common sight . Catamong Posted July 3, 2023 Report Share Posted July 3, 2023 I saw a White Stork recently, in the valley of the River Ver, near Redbourn, Herts. Only one on it's own, I recognised it soon enough as I've seen a few pairs on stubble fields alongside the motorway between Boulogne and Calais. Apparently they're rare in the UK? All the best. Thanks, yes, I'd already reported it on there before I posted the sighting on PW, they did reply to say that there hadn't been any other sightings in the area. I haven't seen it and spent some time looking this evening along side some birders who travelled 6hrs to try and get a glimpse. Only the third recording in Ireland apparently. twenty Posted July 27, 2023 Report Share Posted July 27, 2023 Spotted an Albino/pure white Swallow today amongst a group of ten or so 'normal' swallows. A first for me, and brilliant to watch it hawking insects with its fellow Swallows. Have seen Albino's/white birds in Pheasant, Blackbird, Woodpigeon, Jackdaw, Magpie and also pied birds in Carrion Crow and Starling but todays sighting was by far the best as regards unusuality.
