Bercow eyeing up Labour leadership?

Bercow's switched sides - anyone think he's hoping to topple Bojo?

Anything's possible with that loon, but I think it's more being made a peer. Bojo refused to do it despite the tradition of making the speaker into a peer. Corbyn tried, but the rules state that the opposition leader can't make peers out of opposing party members. With that impediment removed, the door is open for Starmer to do it. He might use a potential leadership bid as a threat to make sure Starmer plays ball. But that's a risky move. He's too remainy for many working class voters, too much of a tory for socialists and too mad for the rest. I can't see whence he gets a powerbase in order to launch a sustained attack.

Politicians as a group are known for being devious, scheming and slippery, but Bercow took that to a new low and brought the “Office of the Speaker“ into disrepute.

He has been playing for Labour at least since the Brexit vote- if not longer.

A thoroughly toxic person.

odious little weasel.............Bercow is only interested in himself...(if he was made a peer none of this would be happening).........cant believe how arrogant the wretched man is.........really cant see why labour would align themselves with such a toxic creature.........

The horrible little man and his wife deserve each other, odious at the least.

his wife went quiet a few years ago ...after being found out for forging her qualifications prior to running for parliament........

QUESTION

does Bercow know he is universally hated by everyone........if so why has he put himself into the limelight again......he is totally deluded

smacks that he has a touch of "Cummingitus"...me thinks........cause the conservatives didnt wash him in donkeys milk and elevate him to the peerage like they normaly do to ex speakers............

i must say i think Lindsey Hoyle is a breath of fresh air.............it makes you realise how toxic / scheming /arrogant / devious / self serving Bercow was/is

If he achieves the Labour leadership

There is speculation at present that IF (as seems likely) Labour loose the Batley and Spen by election on July 1st, Starmer will face a leadership challenge.  He will by then have lost 3 by elections in a row, two of which 'should have been' Labour seats.  It is a poor record by any standards for an opposition so early in a Parliament.

The left (who dominate much of the 'Party machine' though NEC and Union affiliations etc., but are relatively thinly represented in the Parliamentary party) want this done - and I'm guessing they want to put a lefty back in leadership before Andy Burnham can have a chance to become an MP because he would be a popular candidate with the Parliamentary party.

Corbyn and cronies (and before that Milliband) very much altered the leadership election process so that now Labour MPs only have quite a small part in choosing who leads them.

In my view, Bercow is looking to the Labouyr party to put him up as a Lord for his £300 a day attendance allowance and subsidised trough and bar.

But he isn’t universally hated by everyone.

I can, there are quite a few toxic creatures in the labour party, mostly on the Corbyn wing.  Any party who accept many of those would not have a problem with that little maggot.

i can only see him ...actively working in the labour movement as to one end..............to draw attention to himself...and to further his own agenda...........im really surprised that Kier Starmer accepted his application...........which really shows starmer is clutching at straws to find someway at discrediting the Conservative party.......

If that's starmers plan, he may also invite dominic Cummings into the fold.

Starmer is on thin ice himself; He lost the Hartepool by election (which Labour should have won), lost deposit in Amersham with 622 votes out of 38,000 cast, and is widely predicted to loose the Batley and Spen by election on 1st July, where again Labour should win.  For the official opposition to be loosing safe seats early in a Parliament is a very poor result.  The left want him out, claiming he is loosing because he isn't left enough.  When reminded that Corbyn lost as well, they say he wasn't left enough either!

Turn left often enough and you eventually travel up your own rectum.
