Priti Patel says 70% are economic migrants. I look at the people who decry her figures and easily spot the ones with an axe to grind and a paper to sell. Do you have more access to true statistics than Priti Patel or are you saying she is a liar? if you are, please provide proof.

Don't dodge the issue yet again.

Come on, everyone is asking her where she gets her Figures from

We seem to be going in circles here. We say we should accept some (some more than others, no doubt) but at the same time are unable or un willing to specify how many.

We simply have no mechanism to select or process those that are or are not acceptable. We mention families and children but these are often the least able to travel the vast distances involved.

The problem will continue until we get a proper grip and fund safe havens and have a thought out relocation policy. Too much of this is driven by tabloid diplomacy and box office ratings to have any chance of having a grounded and adult approach to the issues.

Ultimately its easier to dodge the issue and blame 'them over there'.

Put up or shut up. Your dodging is an embarrassment. Is she lying or not?

No idea, you mentioned her not me what the flip flop do you expect from me? Your assertion you back it up, several papers have asked where she gets her figures from and you bypass it all and try to pass it on to me, your argument has more holes than a sieve.

oowee - some fair points. The problem with putting a number on it is that no-one knows how many are already here. Government stats suggest less than a million, the last time I looked. It has been suggested that the figure is 5 million plus.

If I suggested 10,000 a year, someone would say it should be zero, 1,000 or 100,000. I don't think the country can stand many more. Increased strain on housing, NHS, the black economy, increased criminality, higher prison population.

If you put a figure on it, who will police that the quota is being adhered to? I would deport all illegals or detain them securely until such time as they were granted asylum or deported.

PS -  I see henry d is up to his usual dodging tricks. Can't give a straight answer so resorts to "flip flop", whatever that is in his limited vocabulary.

Lets face it this Government can't control anything even if it wanted to, which it doesn't seem to want to do.  It's had no workable policies on anything from immigration to energy supply whilst sat on a gold mine of energy it refuses to use but is glad to import at huge cost, it's a toxic brain dead shambles led by a toxic brain dead leader.

I absolutely blame our own government and the human rights laws that prevent us from dealing with this issue from a common sense standpoint.

I don't blame the illegal immigrants attempting to better their lives and feel sorry for their situation, but if we took every person from a poor country, we'd become one ourselves and everything our forefathers have fought, worked and died for over the centuries, not to mention our own generations efforts for everything we enjoy today would be squandered.

Everything was squandered when we joined the eu and allowed thdm to think they were rulers of the world.even now as we are supposed to be out and once again a free sovereign nation its clear the tail is still waggling the dog.it is a good thing to allow people to come and settle here but only if it is a benefit to our country.not because they hired a slot on a dingy or they gave friends here or an uncle etc.its beyond time that our governments grew a pair and found the grit that we once possessed that gave us and most of europe the freedoms there ard today.

Absolutely correct but I try not to be specifically negative as I was told "never mock the afflicted?"

It seems that all our leaders want to do is to wreck our economy by creating and adhering to some pie in the sky idiotic desire to try to control the world climate and ever restrict our freedoms? We, sitting on enough black energy to give ourselves time to create a sustainable path for our future blunder on squeaking like mice to impress those who are deaf anyway as they intend protect their own economies? Our politicos always pursue the easy targets, our own citizens whilst continuing to try to bribe our way around the world. Possibly most of this money ends up being miss appropriated?

Pidd;ing little country, ignoring volcano activity to try to appear a player on the world stage? Sadly they have given up whatever position we held before, already. Now we continue to plummet into oblivion?

The Brexit c0ck up, could only be here, the idiots who got us into the "closer economic ties" phase ended up with knighthoods instead of the dungeons?

Fantasy Island! Possibly a good job that the ones who fought and died to create this country don't have the pain and embarrassment seeing what has been done to it in the dirty name of politics?

No easy answer to it. I honestly wonder at what point someone will say enough is enough. We will probably be past the point of no return.

I will bow out of the thread, because it is going nowhere and some of the posts are just bizarre.

I wish you all, and I do mean all, a merry Christmas and a better New Year.

If our government grew a pair, for the most part we could. Step one was leave the EU and for me, step two will be vote a party in who will deliver policy's I want, if we were still in the EU that wouldn't have been possible, even with the right party.

The ignorance of that statement is priceless.

Have a good long read of that.

The bubble that socialist/communist types live in, goes something thus - 'I think like this , therefore, everyone must think like this, there is no room for a different opinion !'

Markus , you can deny that Sweden has NOT benefited from its uncontrolled influx of African and Middle eastern migrants, from cultures diametrically opposed to the Swedish culture and way of life.
You can deny there are ghettos , and police no go areas, you can even deny Sweden is the worst grenade attack country in the western world.
You can dismiss the fact your social state is buckling under the pressure of all of these refugees.
But you are deluding yourself.

What did you think was going to happen ?
Did you think increasing your population by 20 % using refugees was going to result in 20 % more tax paying Swedes ?

The writing is on the wall for you, your country is turning into a crime ridden hell hole ... But at least you can all congratulate yourselves on your 'morality' and inclusivity.

Just been chatting to one of the drivers who has just dropped his car off while he nips back to Greece for Christmas.

Interestingly he was bemoaning all of the bloody money grabbing immigrants in Lincoln Road, Peterborough who live around him, do no work and get looked after by our Government!

I wished him a safe journey and a Happy Christmas.

I think the irony was lost on him though.

But he works and pays tax and for all he has.

Reform is worth a look if they're running, I vote for anyone fronted by farage, but I'd vote for the monster raving looney party before Labour, libs, greens, or cons.

Which is the same as now a vote for any of the current batch is a wasted vote.i had hoped that boris and gang might have come through but they seem to want to prove they can outdo any others in the corrupt stakes.

Yes either way it is a pointless set up, but I cannot see it ever changing.
