Mmmm , so trying to stop them coming, is making it worse ?
Please expand on that.
What is the solution , let as many come as they like , would that work better ?
Didnt the blair years do just that, now look where we are , with a bunch of laws and loopholes that make the UK an open door for any economic migrant who fancies the easy life  ?

Not going to repeat it all again but I posted ideas earlier. It starts with some proper resources, a statement of intent, development of a pathway and ID cards (or similar). Anyone doubt that the current policy to stop channel crossings is not working?

I think what oowee means is we need proper legal routes in place which would help deter desperate people arriving via illegal means.

I'm all for it, open legal routes and facilite those in genuine need, after full vetting ect.

There are legal routes now, hardly anyone uses them because they dont qualify.

If you have a recognised , needed skill, you can apply.

If you are a genuine refugee, you could apply at any UK consulate or embassy, in writing or person.

These people coming in dinghies , strapped to lorries and storming barriers KNOW they wont pass scrutiny, so wont use proper channels.

What current policy is that ?
The one where the French get paid millions to see them get in the dinghy, then French navy escort them half way, to be picked up by our navy or RNLI to be safely took aboard or shadowed till they land and falsely claim asylum ?
I cant imagine why theyre still coming with a deterrent like that ?

There are no routes for refugees other than convoluted poorly resourced, unrealistic carp. Ask any Afghan interpreter.

There are some strange figures bandied about for how many interpreters were 'left behind'

At its height the ISAF mission never had more than 130000 troops there, after 2014 , it went down to the low 10s of 1000s.
Civilian contractors and mercs then made up the bulk , but never higher than 100,000.
Yet when enquiries were made of how many interpreters needed to be evacuated, 300,000 hands went up !*
Apparently , it was anyone who had ever done any work for coalition troops, and could speak a few lines of English.
So there was some separating of the wheat and the chaff !

*With dependents , some families being 10 strong 😆

Armed trespass with what looks like an SMK XS38 air rifle which does not appear to have a rear sight. Some newspapers are reporting his as having a "Hunting Rifle"

How's that then, when the dominant race in Wales is white the same as England ?

Looks like a clown to me Welsh or English.

Skin colour is not a defense against racism and I guess you are intelligent enough to understand that, the second you mention someones nationality in a derogative manner it becomes racism.

yep will no doubt get a limp slap on the wrist while off on full pay ,anybody else posting that kind of conduct in a public place  would be eating dirt now while they search for the offending "weapon".

Those travelling with P&O Ferries

Deserve it.......

Quote

It comes as hundreds of travellers were left stranded in Calais yesterday waiting for ferries to Folkestone after the breakdown of a Eurotunnel train prompted frantic passengers to seek alternative routes back to the UK.

Possibly due to extenuating circumstances.

Possibly?

But the article states that passengers stated that ‘only’ four booths were open for UK Border Force which was causing the significant delays.
When it was the French only manning ( personing 😉) a few booths the other month, everyone was lambasting.

Here we have the same and an excuse to exonerate is being sought.
Just saying like!

Let's face it  being us, if we can't disrupt the rubber boat queues we can pick on something else? Maybe the usual accolade  self applied is that any action can be construed as gold standard?

I'm not going to lie, I didn't read the bit about only 4 booths being open. I stopped when I see it was P&O and partly due to the chunnel train problem.

As I said those using P&O, I have zero sympathy for. After what they did to their staff, no one should be using them.
