So are these people migrants or asylum seekers?

Good question! Isn’t that the problem?
If they’re economic migrants then why don’t they arrive via the proper channels ( rather than the English one ) as many have and do?
If they’re asylum seekers why do they need to seek asylum from France? France isn’t at war with anyone as far as I know.

Can you not understand people just don't want mass immigration/asylum seekers in their area with all problems it brings

Of course, but as Millrace said they are coming off a plane and as they are part of Europe, duty bound to allow this. If the people of Ireland don't want this then they need a referendum.

On analysis, It's pointless boiling up over this?

There is nothing that can be done?

This can't/won't alter till the politicos in charge want it to?

Patently this is not their wish for some deeply hidden reason?

We have been placed in the situation of having  to vote for who we personally think will cause us least harm not benefit the nation?

Needful of a dramatic change but to what?

They won't be allowed one, unconstitutional as far as EU law goes.

And coming out of the EU, we'll, it took 3 referendums to keep them in, they won't get another one of those either. Irish politicians are too busy in the trough.

This is what he said; "...someone coming off a plane..." So that implies they have a legal right to live and work in Ireland or that they have come through established channels to claim asylum. As said above if you don't want people to come from eu countries then have a referendum.

I stand corrected. My fault for jumping in without reading ALL the thread!

does it really matter how they arrive, putting large numbers of immigrants/asylum seekers in an area is not going to work, they WILL just create their own society within that country, its perhaps the worst thing you can do to create an integrated society.

Hello, if people are a genuine migrant with papers and passport, even a job to go to then that seems ok, but we cannot take illegal immigrants for ever coming across the channel , despite those who want to help, we have UK residents that need help but I don't see any demonstrations for them, 🤔

Anyone can claim asylum, whether they arrive by plane, dinghy or clinging to the underside of something. Its whether or not they are granted asylum once their case has been examined.

A certain MP  has recently questioned the Albanian ambassador about why the Albanian dinghy people don't just fly in from their safe country and claim asylum, the ambassador had no answer.

On one hand it would seem the act of desperately, and illegally entering the country, somehow strengthens the claim, or it erases their possibly criminal Identity and history?

But on the other hand, we hardly ever send anyone back anyway, despite the flimsiest of reasons for claiming, the Albanians have been told to say they owe money back home, this apparently puts their life in danger, or some other rubbish.

The fact is most of them borrow money off UK based crime gangs to get in, then cost the taxpayer £1000 a week to be fed and homed in hotels?

Perhaps we could make it known they have to pay this back, or there will be 'trouble' 🙄

Are they fleeing war or persecution?

Hello, the only nationals I can see fleeing war are Ukrainians , and I am pleased many came to UK, they had the majority of UK resident on their side, illegal immigrants coming in boats that's another matter, maybe they should stay in french hotels 🤔
