Unfortunately as suspected the problem is with Virgin Media, as posted on their forums: http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Up-to-30Mb-and-50Mb-broadband/new-routing-issue-to-EU/td-p/643567

This was raised with them on Friday, however, they has of yet not acknowledged it. It's weird because some Virgin customers are not experiencing these problems, whilst others (including my connection here) has been destroyed to Pigeon Watch as a result of this problem. As said the problem has been raised to Virgin, so it is now a matter of them getting round to fixing it, based on a working week, this is probably most likely to be tomorrow. :(

For what it is worth, it is slightly better accessing the site in Chrome than in firefox or ie, but it is still patchy using Virgin.

Personally i think Virgin are rubbish - my father in law (amongst others use it) - he's had nothing but problems since he moved over.

He in theory has doubled his connection speed, but the reality if far from that - it's far less reliable and has terrible bottlenecks.

I tested PW when i was round there yesterday and it was unusable.

No issues or BT, Be*, Vodafone or Orange (yes i use all 4 in the course of a day!)

Am on Virgin cable (not the crappy DSL service) and have had troubles accessing recently. Seems odd that this is the only site that seems to be affected - maybe there is a specific issue with their caching engines. Anyway, I've been with Virgin (and NTL) for over 10 years and hardly had any problems with them. The occasional blip but certainly nothing major or repetitive.

The problem is caused because much of Virgin Media's connection to Germany is broken. The server that we use is hosted in Germany as the deals available out there are much better than those in the UK (approximately half the price). This is why PW may seem to be the only site affected.
