Genghis
2 hours ago, wymberley said: Luke Pollard MP - need to keep an eye on this man:- But he warned that his party had inherited a dire situation after years of Tory government chaos. He also vowed to work for changes to gun laws following the 2021 Keyham shootings, to ensure nothing like it ever happens again. This is the article that the quote is from, if anyone else is interested. https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/labours-plan-plymouth-after-enormous-9390886?int_source=amp_continue_reading&int_medium=amp&int_campaign=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target Only positive is that he seems less militant than he did a couple of years ago. I still would advise anyone against buying a pump, as this is specifically what he wanted to ban in 2021.

Houseplant
Good luck to you all! I'm not sure what to think of it. I'm naturally right-leaning, but the Conservatives do seem to have made a mess of things.
Mungler
It reminds me of the Red Dwarf episode where they question the intelligence of the ship’s computer and the reply is: I am Holly, the ship's computer, with an IQ of 6000 PE teachers. Our new government has the combined IQ of 170…. a 170 PE teachers of course

Mungler
Alright. This is something I still don’t get and I throw it out to the floor. So, working to the distinct possibility of England winning the euros (we were the favourites going in), the weather getting better (because it can’t get worse and so has to) and the BoE cutting interest rates by up to 1/2% by the end of summer (with a min of 1/4% now guaranteed for August), can anyone explain to me why Sunak called an election before all these highly probable if not likely ‘feel good’ events? Wouldn’t a November election have been better, also applying the stat that more Conservatives vote in bad weather than any other party. I just don’t get why he called for July. Ideas and answers on a postcard please 😀

Ideas and answers on a postcard please 😀 One theory that I have read is that, as a number of fixed interest mortgages, set up in the 1% - 2% era were coming to an end and a number of young, potentially Conservative voters were likely to be looking at their mortgages doubling, it would be better to bite the bullet early. That and potentially catching Farage off guard. Well, it all worked out OK for him, didn’t it 🤣.
