udderlyoffroad
They are strict liability offences. There are currently several people on the register who were under the age of 18 when their equally underage girlfriend sent them, unsolicited, a racey picture. That is of course, morally, a world away, from Edwards' behaviour, but the law is an *** and doesn't allow for such distinctions when it comes to strict liability offences (though, sentences received differ). @scolopax Edwards was sent several pictures over the course of months, it wasn't a one-off. So even if you follow the @Gordon R take, that nothing would happen to you if you reported such to the police, it seems that wasn't what happened in this case. He did not request or want anything Illegal, but because his source sent some underage stuff, among all the other legal porn, which H.E. did not want, but he received. Then an offence is committed. He did not ‘make’ any indecent images as we would think it, the term make an image under the legislation has a very broad meaning. So the Good Old BBC top newsreader didn't know it was wrong to receive child porn when he had loads of images on his comp including 7 of the worst type

The good old bbb 😂 he states that you MAY be charged under the offences not that you WILL. If the images are genuinely unsolicited (which I doubt) therein lies a defence. He’s probably been told by his very expensive barrister that by pleading guilty asap, ‘only’ having 41 images (most of these paedophiles have hundreds), having mental health issues and being of previously good character his chances of a suspended sentence or community service is better than fair. Personally I think he ought to spend time behind bars, a couple of years at least.

Doormat
Anything to do with child porn is simply repulsive. When I saw the news footage the other night of Huw arriving at court wearing shades with his head held high, not even a hint of shame, I felt anger beyond words can express. I hope he gets what the other nonces get once he’s locked up…a good hiding!!
