Yes, I make shot cups from coke bottles. It seems to work ok as the bore isn’t scored up at all.

Wildfowler
The website content can still be found here if anyone is still interested. https://sites.google.com/site/puntgunning/home The punt had an irritating seal encounter lol bet Christmas. It appears it was looking for a hammock and made do with the punt cover. During its mounting and dismounting, it managed to rip the washboard off and bend a load of the stainless brackets so my eldest son and I had to go down at high tide and bail the punt out and recover it! 7daysinaweek
Wow! Just Wow! Read Colonel Hawkers diaries when I was a youngster. A fascinating read of a past era of punt gunning and game shooting. I take my hat off to you. P.S By the looks from the mighty explosion it could easily be taken for a rapport from HMS Victory were she still live.
Big Mat
Perhaps time for a hard cover? Less convientient but less likely to be a seal hammock! You couldn't dream of keeping a punt at moorings round here, it'd be stolen or sunk

Wildfowler Posted Tuesday at 12:35 Author Report Share Posted Tuesday at 12:35 (edited) I thought an update was due! Works seems to get in the way of having fun, but over Christmas there was no work, or school or Uni to get in the way of a good punting trip! This is the first time my sons have both managed to get out at the same time (shame on me I guess). After an unsuccessful stalk early on, with my eldest behind the gun and me punting, we found another pack that were sat better. The boys decided they wanted to have a go, so the youngest took up the behind the gun and the eldest got on the pole for the first time. As a father, there was a range of emotions seeing this. Serious teamwork required to even go after it, but off they went! And I was stood in the big boat, beaming with pride!
