Peskyfoxs
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-24498482 How come I haven't seen any pics of successful sign hunts posted in sporting pictures ?
Scully
Maybe there's nothing else to shoot in Chudleigh? I would have been concerned if the projectiles had gone through.Should be fairly easy to trace what caused them as unless they were picked up they will be lying in the grass at the base of the sign. Catapult maybe? Edited October 14, 2013 by Scully
TIGHTCHOKE
An American habit I believe!
mickyh
Air Rifle, anything more powerful would go straight through an ally sign, used to see loads when I was a kid. Townies shooting out of cars in the countryside.
spandit
I think an immediate ban on all firearms is in order. I shall contact Jeremy Vine forthwith
pontbeck
I've seen more than I care to remember and always think whoever does it is irresponsible and not fit to have a gun ,but why , if you are a shooting man, as the guy says he is, do you want to draw attention to something else that can bring attention to our sport in a bad way
wymberley
Scully mentioned this web site some 30 months ago. This can't be all that new to the said Mr Seiber as in an area with with which he will be very familiar almost every sign has taken a hit of some description. Still, I suppose he was too knadgered to have noticed it then.

old rooster
Wonder if whoever did it mistook it for a speed camera??? Obviously one shotgun at fairly close range in the middle but the larger indentations are a fair old diameter. I'd say bigger that .22 and perhaps too consistent in depth to be a catapult? If as the perlonker suggests it was a "high powered rifle" it must have been from a very long way off not to have gone straight through? m3vert
Have a look at the other images, I think there are 4 off them on the BBC website. Some clearly show holes straight through the signs.
simonix
Despite the comment in the article stating "it can't be someone local..." the chances are that it IS a local who has probably shot all the signs in the 15 mile radius that they have seen. Can't imagine there is a group of gun owners going out randomly shooting signs?!
jasper3
this has been happening for years , some idiot thinks its fun , i would say the small dents are more shotgun than air rifle, i guess some people should not hold a cert.... spandit
I believe to take these shots properly, one needs to be in the back of a pickup truck with a bottle of moonshine. To warn bystanders, it is traditional to use the call of "Yee haw!"

Gordon R
I think the "expert" has identified what is wrong. They are not licence holders. He then goes on to link them with murders. :whistling: Another "expert" has proclaimed the vandals are not local. Where do they dig them up from? Frenchieboy
OK, own up guys, who has been going to Chudliegh just to shoot their road signs. I like the bit where he says "it wouldn't be anyone local cos they are all pretty good guys"! Damned immigrants no doubt!

Tim85
Hate to say it and maybe I might be being harsh (apologies if I offend anyone) but it's got to have a high probability to be Traveller Folk doing this kind of thing! Annoyed that they can not sell the type of metal they make these sign's out of now.
tonker
I had to give that 514'6'' holdover to hit that from here. just as well the wind wasn't blowin

four-wheel-drive
If it was a high velocity rifle shooting at an alloy sign all that you would see I would have thought is nice clean round holes not dents I say a good air rifle.
