steveyg
After having food poisoning last week I was looking forward to getting out this morning, Up nice and early and arrived at the perm at 7am....only to find a new lock on the gate... Managed to get the new combination at 11am. Tried another perm... Another steveyg blank, hey ho
steve_b_wales
I borrowed the gate key off the farmer, paid £8.00 to have it cut, plus a 'spare', and three weeks later, the farmer changed the lock, as he had 'lost' the other one! To say I was displeased, is an understatement.

Cranfield
More and more farmers seem to be putting locks on field gates, not long ago it was quite rare to find one.
Big Mat
More and more farmers seem to be putting locks on field gates, not long ago it was quite rare to find one. We rent land from 4 or 5 farmers every year, all the gates are locked. More than once i've been locked out when they've changed the combination
Westley
Hasn't he drilled up the road yet? Changing the lock is one thing, but is that not taking things a bit far ??

fieldwanderer
One of the farmers I shoot for said he'd sort me a key out for the gate to the one field but never did, I was teaching myself to pick locks at the time so took to picking it instead! That went on for quite a while (and I got pretty good at that particular lock lol) until I found a key hidden in the gatepost - I took it to the farmer via the key cutter's. They're only human I guess He's since added another gate making a total of 3 locks (3 gates) if I need to get to the far end of that patch of land! I usually stop after the first though unless I've got a lot to carry.

oliver90owner
Combo lock? Some practise and then less than 5 mins to pick the lock. They keep out the average intruder but not the naughty boys or those in the know. Look up on u-toob, it is all on there so no real secret. Find eight numbers it can be (two on each tumbler) and the number of possibilities is now very few! About as good a deterrent as those easily opened safe boxes on a recent thread. loriusgarrulus
Hasn't he drilled up the road yet? Bit desperate drilling up the tarmac. Locked gate is one thing, but digging up the road to stop folks. They'll be digging tank traps next.
mossy835
only one of my farms has a lock on it,all the others have not,
tignme
The answer to no key is to supply your own lock and only link through yours n farmers. That way its win win.

Unfortunately this wouldn't work as their are a couple of fishing ponds which have numerous members. I think this is why it was changed...not enough of them had renewed theirs subs

loriusgarrulus
We are lucky. We park in the farmyard and no locked gate from there to the fields and wood. All three permissions interlink so we can just walk from one to the other two.
