Whats everyone upto today?

Me, well the wife wanted to goto some shopping centre in stratford called westerfield or some thing. I worked out its cheaper to go by train from my local station than drive and pay car park fees. So an hour train journey to look foward too followed by shopping :( grrrr not my kinda thing. Im under strict instructions not to wear fishing or shooting clothes lol.

Oh well atleast ill be out shooting tomorow, and probably a walk with the gun this evening.

Hope ur day is as fun as mine!! :)

Yes, I went to the Pigeon Watch Charity Shoot!

Well I have had a brilliant week, caught two cracking fresh salmon of the local association water and shot over 90 young rooks. The latter is not a job I relish but by request from a farmer where I have other permissions so must be done. Today me and my partner walked a approx 6 mile circuit of the lower tweed using the A1 bypass bridge and re-crossing to the north bank by the Union Suspension Bridge. A first class sandwich lunch at the Chain Bridge Honey Farm in the converted double decker bus cafe made a welcome interlude on a day of near gale force winds. Chicken curry and a can or two should finish the day off nicely.

Been checking for rabbit damage on the wheat/barley. All clear except for the 'golf course fields' which oppo has in hand with the FAC air - place is riddled with public footpaths. However, the golf course in no longer shot as the guy that was doing it for years has left and one of the trustees was complaining about it to my farmer who I've just bumped into. He's going to have a word and see if he can get me on there as it would suit both him and the course. Fingers crossed as there'll be some major sport.

Mentioned elsewhere about the damned solar panel array - 20 acres over three fields which the estate has organised (my farmer is a tenant and not best pleased). Seems the installation contractors - Spanish mob - have either messed up the wiring or it's because they bought cheap untested Chinese cable but it's not working. They've now found that it covers 25% of one, 50% of another and 100% of the third field. If it's the cable then it's £70,000 to replace it plus the penalty clause for lost revenue by the estate as they're going well past the agreed completion date. Their manager reckons that as the same might well apply to a site near Swindon and another in Panama, they may well go to the wall. Hope they hurry up as the site - from which we have no access - is blocking a good acreage over which it's not been possible to shoot since the autumn.

With having had two weekends away , 13 hours driving and putting another 800 miles on the clock ,plus feeling rather run down at the moment and hoping that the blood test results next week , will not show anything bad health wise , I am doing nothing this weekend Apart form making lists of things to do to the house before it goes on the market next April ,looking at property sites for the sort of house and areas We'd like to move to .OK I know that by then they will all have ben sold by then, but it gives a chance to decide what we like/don't like .Or rather what Mrs.G wants and what I would like .

spent the day fitting a new cooker, tv, and surround system today, only to find we bought the one cooker that doesn't have a grill pan handle as standard. to top it off I've lifted all the carpet to run the wires for the surround speakers only to find that the dvd player doesn't ******* work! I can get sound out of it but the screen is blank, I've tried every configuration and even reset the damn thing to factory settings but still no joy. needless to say Hughes got both barrels down the phone and are sending an engineer to have a look.

and I've run out of beer...

on the up side the tv works though

Took the girlfriend for Sunday lunch, then popped out to finish a load work up for the new stalking rifle. She is so understanding I can't stop grinning like an idiot. The icing on the cake is the rifle turns out to be easy to load for as well...result.:yahoo:
Time for a beer and a sit down.
