sako751sg
Forecast was for a covering of snow and very high winds and on waking this morning it was spot on. Was a thought going oot in it but the old fella chapped on the door the back of 9 so loaded the Jeep. Thought it would be a good day for the pigeons and right enough it was superb but as we had a lot of walking we only spent and hour on them but it was none stop. They were flighting into the usual wee wood coming in low although with the wind it was pretty hard going but dropped 41 in just over an hour and ended with 47 altogether. Will have another day among them when conditions are similar so should get good numbers. Then held away for a walk but not that much on the go although some testing pigeons kept us on our toes.Think i say it every year but i dont think ive seen them in this numbers and they were none stop flocks for as long as we were out.We were struggling to walk into the wind so they were kept pretty low flying and when the snow was on it was near blizzard. Ended with a gig at the pond with plenty mallard coming in and we added 10 to the bag which finished off a great day. Alos a pic of a woodcock we found dead with only one leg.Totally healed over and not sure what caused the death.
