Hi I was just wondering what's people forts on eley hi flyers before I go and get a slab any reviews gratefully accepted

Used a few boxes on pigeons through a gun choked 3/4 & 3/4 

found them to be soft shooting and also killed well

buy a box or so and see how you get on

I would go with Hull High Pheasant if you want 2 1/2" or High Pheasant Extreme for 2 3/4"  in 5's    I am sure there will be many answers to this and all are correct !  If not there would only be one cartridge manufacturer,

I got hull high pheasant extreme but not the keenest on them.. what you think of black gold

Many people swear by black gold,including Mr Digweed.I tried some 3 weeks ago and gave 200 away after that experience,that is just me and I ain't  no Mr Digweed

Used Hi Flyers before I started reloading. If I jacked in the reloading, I'd use them again. Sensible cartridges, soft shooting and good through tight chokes. Had some memorable birds a few summers ago with the 32g/#5 version.

Rottweil Tiger are very very good,unfortunately they ceased production this year,if you find some then buy them,I have about 400 and will hold on to them for when they are needed

I rate black gold and the slightly more expensive dark storm. 

 

I ordered some of the new(ish) on the market express supreme super duper turbo power cartridges. They are very nice to shoot. 

 

Going to stick with both.  28gm 6 black gold for sensible stuff and express 32gm 5 for sky rockets and walked up.

I was given about twenty in a loose assortment of different game cartridges and I found them really good while out crow shooting.

 

If your anywhere near Doncaster I could sort you out a box of black gold to try .

Black gold and Dark Storm are good along with Supreme game where my go to cartridges however I've now been pulled to the copper shot side and live the kills with Hellfires but not to keen on the price but they are brilliant

Gotta admit I’ve been converted to the hard shot types now, used Eley zenith 36g 4’s in Wales and they were brilliant! Also used the new RC nickel shot in 32g 5 equally as good on the slightly lower birds. Been using the nickel ones in 30g 6 for the local low flying Suffolk birds, even converted a few others to them. Got the zenith 30g 6 coming next week as well to try. 

All the hard shot cartridges are about £10 a box, but if that’s £2.50 a box more than you normally spend, is it really that much extra to pay if your paying £250-400 for a days shooting??

I wanted to buy some paper cased this season. Just for old times sake. I used to follow my Uncle around the fields picking up his spent cartridges and sniff them all the way home. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any on sale.

Hull  3 crown are available in paper cases.

Shot some very high pheasant and partridge which I will rate as extremely memorable in 44 years of shooting. 

Cartridge  - 29g Express Power Pigeon !

I shoot black gold and like them. But if you put the shot in the right place all game cartridges will do the job.

One of the best cartridges I’ve shot out of a SxS is Lyalvale Express Special game 25g 6 shot fiber wad.  Smooth as butter and dropped them at range.

On one of the shoots I go on , the most consistent shot by far use clear pigeon 30 grms plastic wad , whatever cartridge is used it still have to be put in the right place, and is there really that much difference for a standard price cartridge, to one in the top of the price range bracket ?

I wonder how many people could tell what there favourite cartridge is if it was mixed with half a dozen different ones that were all put in the same case with no names on them ,,, I know I couldn't .

I still have a few pure gold paper case carts and I bought a box of Express paper case carts last year. Didn’t like them and still have most of the box.

Tried the lyalvale 29g 6's and quite like them. Seem soft shooting and have taken a couple of crows and a good range with them. Bought a slab the week after for 60 quid or so

I have just gone back to Eley Impax. Killed 50 per cent of the pheasants I shot at yesterday, which is a good rate for me (and indeed for most driven game Shots). Good clean kills at normal ranges and a pleasure to shoot. I won’t use anything heavier for game in the future.
