novice cushie shooter
Afternoon evreyone, Recently had my contura fitted and love it so far, would like to heat other rooms as it seems trapped in the living room. Does anyone use a stove fan to move the air around their house?
TIGHTCHOKE
There was a thread about this a while ago with some great recommendations.

yates
Check before you buy one. I’ve had a contra for six now and was told by the fitter that a stove fan would not work with this type of stove. Unfortunately I can’t remember why Edited December 13, 2018 by yates Words

harrycatcat1
My fan is from Aldi, and it moves air around very well. Just warming my pheasant/duck pie on the top.

clakk
Works well in our local ,a big dining room but a standard size woodburner the fan on top keeps the pub cosy n warm similar to Harry,s but the fan is in the middle
Walker570
I have two Clearviews...best money ever spent.... I have thought about the fan idea as our old farmhouse is almost all open plan, so interested to hear what users have to say also. A limitless supply of almost free wood also helps with house warming costs and water heating. Edited December 13, 2018 by Walker570

I am using the Aldi one as my last one started to slow down . I now use it on my stove in the shed. The thing i like most about them the heat makes them work .and dont need a power source . hod
I’ve been ‘watching’ some fans on eBay for ages but haven’t pulled the trigger... so also interested in any recommendations. Even with doors open and open plan - but L shaped - lounge/dining/kitchen the heat doesn’t naturally travel much out of our lounge. Although it is often sauna like. al4x
I have to say we have a fan and it works well but we have a stove in an inset hearth. With your setup I wouldn’t bother as it won’t move the heat from room to room
PhilR
Having listened to friends who have fans on their woodburners and are smitten by them we took the plunge and got an Aldi one on line. To be honest I don't think it makes a scrap of difference to the temperature elsewhere in the house. Maybe it's the layout of the house and where the stove is positioned. Perhaps see if you can borrow one first to see if it works before spending out on one.
figgy
You could put a desk fan on low blowing air over the stove to move warm air around. Edited December 14, 2018 by figgy

I have a 4 prop one and it seems to blow the heat around.
Farmboy91
I brought my nan one last year, cant for the life of me remember where it came from but it does make the room ridiculously hot.
Muddy Funker
I wouldn't bother with that stove. Ours is in a fireplace and I think it must help shift heat out from gap between top of stove and closure plate. With a stove standing free in a room surely the heat will radiate out naturally. novice cushie shooter
Unfortunately it seems to stay in the room. I had turned off the heating to the house and it was noticeably colder in all other rooms.
The Mighty Prawn
I bought a double fan version off amazon for about £25 and it's brilliant, pushes the heat around the whole downstairs
markm
I’ve got 2. One (branded) was about £90 and the other is an Aldi special. The aldi one is 10 x better.
