ShootingEgg
Started to find poop in the garden and would like to give them a helping hand, but don't want to start putting food down to then attract other less savory visitors.. Any ideas how to help out our spikey little friends without other guests appearing...
henry d
Cut your grass and leave small amounts of clippings on the lawn, the slugs and snails will home in on it overnight and so will the hogs
Ultrastu
Provide small holes under fences and gates and encourage your nieghbours to do the same .this helps them get around . I saw 2 last night walking the dog

Dekers
I have a family of them, see them regularly (and their doings) they use my garden because it suits them, they have already made holes under fences to allow access to neighbours. They like water, this one was drinking out of a seed tray full of rainwater in my garden, he is virtually in the middle with his back to the camera standing on his rear legs, leaning into seed tray to drink, very dark but you can just make it out! I do nothing to encourage them, they simply seem to like what I have!
Blackbriar
Small hole at the bottom of your fence, to allow access. Good quality cat food, most fruit and veg (raw). Water to drink - don't give them milk, they are lactose intolerant ! The good Lady has two African pygmy hedgies and does all she can to help the wildies..............smashing little creatures, who deserve our help. Hope the other on going culls have the same result.

JTaylor91
A chap at work and his mrs run a small hedgehog rescue at their house. Feed them dog food mixed with goats milk. They’re up to 9 residents at the moment.

hedge
I built a Hog House to put food in (wet dog food and some dry cat food - dont' use anything fish based apparently). Water outside in a bowl. They seemed to like it and the only issue I had was nextdoors cat getting in, so I made the entrance a bit smaller and that stopped it. "Leave out foods like tinned dog or cat food (not fish-based) and crushed dog or cat biscuits. Specialist hedgehog food is also recommended and can be bought from wildlife food suppliers. Never feed hedgehogs milk as it can cause diarrhoea; instead provide plain, fresh water in a shallow bowl." Or buy one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=hedgehog+box&i=outdoor&ref=nb_sb_noss Edited July 9, 2019 by hedge

Mice!
the only thing no one has said is don't be too tidy in the garden, leave an area they can root in or sleep, and don't whack them with a strimmer 😊

I can only quote what Google tells me! 😊 We don't see any since our neighbour dog proofed their garden and the HH motorway got closed. I miss seeing them.
