chrisjpainter
It's finally almost upon us! Anyone got a dark horse pick? Same old southern hemisphere domination? We're still three days away and already the first scandal has broken, with Howley being sent home for breaking betting rules! Not the idea prep for a side who had mediocre (at best) warm up results...
Duckandswing
Rated Howley as a player, never as a coach. Might be a blessing in disguise. I can only see an All Blacks win, but closely followed by either South Africa or England. You just never know on the day though.
bumpy22
All blacks favourite for sure. But England are not far behind. Should make for a great tournament with a lot of teams in contention
henry d
Japan to do well and possibly (and hard to stomach) France to emerge. Just put it out there as I just watched the 2015 England France debacle again and wanted to give them bad hoo-do! Shearwater
Nz, SA, Oz not been on fire recently so get the OP question about dark horse. . . . My darkest horse bet would be Fiji PS. Did everyone know only 50% matches on ITV the other half on ***ITV4*** so make sure you can watch

Fatcatsplat
I drew Italy in the sweep at work - Well that's 2 quid wasted!! I've never known such an open tournament with no real home advantage for any of the big boys and nobody particularly on fire - Japan will be boosted by home advantage from being mediocre to probably quite good. New Zealand, Australia, Wales, England, South Africa, France and Ireland all stand a great chance of winning. Argentina, Italy, Scotland, Fiji and Tonga will all be fighting to make it past the pool stages. Russia, Namibia, Uruguay and Georgia will all be happy with points on the board. Mostly earlyish kick offs - Anyone recommend a suitable breakfast ale? Or perhaps a marmalade martini!!

It's becoming more and more pointless having Italy in the Six Nations, but at the same time there's no viable option as to who could take their place. But if Georgia have a good world cup, it might go some way to organising a European second tier that could feed into the Six Nations, in a one up, one down relegation system. Not an ale but I have been known to have a Guinness first thing on a sporting occasion.

I played against a Georgian international prop several waist sizes and a fringe ago in Spain on a tour and they are lovely scrummagers
Mice!
watching the build up, apparently Italy put 70 past Russia in a warm up 😣😣 so it should be a good day for Japan.

Pretty sure I've seen a recipe for marmalade vodka on here, maybe that would suit your martini idea?
AVB
I am in Tokyo at the moment (have been for past 18 months). Great atmosphere. The Japanese have really taken to following the rugby.

henry d
Thought Fiji were going to have the first shockwave of the tournament, shame Australia clawed themselves back into the game.
JDog
It was a good game until Fiji ran out of steam early in the second half. It appeared as if half of the Australian team were of Fijian origin.

France Argentina is at least what we expect, two teams playing good rugby, it's like a different game completely compared with Japan Russia. missed the kick, unlucky. whoops, fighting after the whistle.
