You know what I would like to see

Full and honest disclosure of assets and income.

We know that Bojo has more than a few pennies ( I don’t begrudge anyone for what they have) , but what I would like to see/know, is how exactly the Opposition fund their lifestyles, how many have more than one home etc.

Its all very well playing the “for the many, not the few”, but not if your playing field isn’t level to begin with.

If the electorate were able to see blatant hypocrisy, then maybe the oft mooted  “trust” issue might be clarified.

A number of them have more than one home (as do many MPs).  To an extent, you can understand it in cases where the constituency is outside London, but only to the extent of one main home and a work day flat in London (which some rent).

'Thornberry' is wealthy (her husband is Sir Christoper Nugee), and they have several properties.  McDonnell has a holiday home I think on the Norfolk broads, Starmer, Benn, Umuna are all wealthy, Benn having a family estate in Essex.

Many Tories are wealthy - but then they don't claim to be against wealth.

ALL MPs have a decent salary and VERY generous expenses and pension schemes (compared to most industry or public sector positions paying a similar salary).

I can't believe the yougov poll shows 51% in favour of Boris and 49% Corbyn based on that debate - I have not checked the website but heard it on the radio in the car. Mental

If those figures are true at least the public are able to answer a simple binary question (although perhaps they only have two buttons to choose from).

I heard that last night and thought how?

I caught a couple of bits last night, the presenter asking Boris if he'd found a magic money tree, and if Corbyn had found several.

And Corbyn saying everyone should be able to go to university? Put simply no they shouldn't.

JC's refusal to state a Brexit position is doing him no favours.

If I were a remain supporter I would want to know if there is any value in voting for the idiot who seems too stupid to commit to that.

There are after all umpteen ardent remain supporters to attract votes from who are otherwise likely to vote for a smaller party with the nuts to make remain part of their manifest.

However I guess he has realised few would trust any of his manifesto intentions since he welched on leave in the last election.

Too many go now - keeps the unemployment figures looking better in part

I get that, but a lot of kids struggle in school never mind university.  What use are pointless degrees,  debt, over qualified, jobless but a few fun years, o wait Labour voters.

Once there it is very easy to indoctrinate them. Not so much when they are out earning.

Nor is Nige`s by having anything other than Brexit?

Agreed - though Nige's main meal is Brexit and sort less urgent/important stuff out later - and lets be clear - there is nuthin more important in voter minds than if that person is a leave or remain voter until after the issue is put to bed.

Me too, take out the half truths, lies, ********, unanswered questions, bluster and deliberate lack of candour and there you have it!....the standards of the two politicians on offer!............

Me too. Unfortunately the parties and policy behind them is of a similar vein and they represent the only choice for many.

I'm hoping so, they all generally lie in their manifestos anyway,  promise all sorts do little bits, but Brexit needs finishing,  Tories are (hopefully) going to sort it, lib dums cancel it, Labour don't know what their doing so cant tell us.

Labour know exactly what they are going to do but think if they tell the voters it will lose them votes whichever way they go.

They will prevaricate, and "sit on the fence" in the hope that some of their support will not "jump ship", however IMHO they are at greater risk of alienating both sides an losing even more support.

They are all telling untruths, it is the way of all politicians and the promises from some of the smaller parties, and I include the non liberal undemocrats in this are really just too far fetched and would bankrupt the state in weeks not years if implemented, even with a 50% tax rate for all.  These people must have magic money tree plantations somewhere not just the tory 1 and leiboors small orchard.

You were in a different supermarket if you can deny the MAIN thing in leave/remain voters minds is in or out. Keep kicking the can down the road if you really really really want to 'P' off the electorate still more.

Not sure how they arrive at that figure. His house is seemingly going to be a million of that (which seeing as it's an ugly 1960s terraced up and downer in Finsbury Park shows how inflated London property prices are), but as for the rest their figure seems to be a guesstimate based on his earnings as an MP.

Just so as not to double post, I didn't see the debate last night, but the Guardian's John Crace wrote an excellent report. And it's my opinion that regardless of political perspective Crace is by a mile the best political satirist out there. His stuff is gold and always worth a read.

...All pretence that the debate was a serious contribution to the election campaign had been abandoned when the lights went up on a set that looked like a cross between a 1970s afternoon gameshow and an S&M dungeon.....

And that's exactly how it did look, too!

Tron, at a guess.

Correct. It's the Tron ride at Disneyland in Shanghai - because yesterdays TV debate looked uncannily like an outtake from the movie.

You have to wonder why anyone would have considered the set and ambiance suitable for a national political debate. But maybe whoever that was possesses of a sense of humour and thought that given the current state of British politics, a Sci-fi fantasy movie backdrop would suit perfectly.
