Ferret664
Just for intrested what do people find the smooth cartridges to shoot? I never take any notice of recoil but I know people who do and can't stand 32g cartridges? So just want to get people's opinions?
Smokersmith
The smoothest 32g I know of are Fiocchi Golden Pheasant, and the old stalwart Gamebore SuperGame.
Ferret664
Intresting and smoothest in general ? I would imagine a 28g cartridge ?
shalfordninja33
I've always found hull cartridge pretty smooth shooting. Verses RC for example which I perceive to have more recoil in a similar load.
washerboy
Gamebore super if I remember rightly, green cased.
lancer425
I like impax . Any smoother RELOAD.
Farmboy91
In the past I've shot off a load of old paper cased Grand Prix's and Impax, now they were nice. I'm talking 40 years + and they still kill well. No I know not exactly available at every RFD but they are out there.
Robertt
12 bore - Hull 28g Imperial Game, in a side by side, very smooth. Found Impax, which were my favourite in the 70's and 80's, to be a bit jabby compared to the Imperials. In 20 bore I've found all the below 28g offerings ive tred out 'smooth'. This includes Hull, Express, Eley, Cheddite, and Proper. Have yet to try Gamebore, Fiocci and RC.
Westley
Fiocchi PL28 is what I use in my Westley Richards boxlock. 28 gram 6 shot fibre wads AND 65mm case.
Ferret664
Intresting thanks guys I have a friend who is finding 32-30g to painful . (He has a bad shoulder) so trying to find out what would be the best cartridge to recommend him
London Best
I shoot ONLY lightweight side by sides and I find the smoothest 28 gram loads to be Hull Imperial Game and Express Supreme Game. Many moons ago I used Eley Impax and then changed to Winchester GB, which I don’t think are now available.

wymberley
Another vote for the SuperGame Hi-Bird. Not only smooth but perform well and the price is not criminal compared to many.
itchy trigger
go for pattern not speed, for a 32 gram cartridge I find Just Cartridges Extreme Game very smooth, bought a couple of thousand 6's and 5's a few years ago, use them on my driven days, for driven partridge I use Cheddite Universal Trap fibre 28 gram 7.5's I find both these cartridges pattern well in my guns, (multi choked, 1/4 and 1/4)
figgy
The softest shooting carts I've found for game are Lyalvale Express special game fiber wad 25g 6 shot. Friend used them in his very old Damascus sxs, when I bought one I used the same. Better than the Hull 26g & 28g imperial game I bought the following season. spurs 14
I’ve been using the game bore clear pigeon 6 - 30 g carts , like them , but that is through a semi auto so recoil feels nominal
London Best
To be honest, personally I never feel a gun go off with any normal game load cartridge unless I have mounted badly (usually hastily), in which case I have invariably missed. Kills never register any recoil with me.
JDog
I never feel recoil but then again I never use anything over 29 grams in an over and under.
GingerCat
I remember using up some dan arms clay carts that were like getting hit by a truck every time I fired. Used comp x and apart from the noise I couldn't tell you the gun had gone off. Mostly don't notice it these days with whatever carts I use unless I mount wrong on a snap shot. Perazzishot
If the gun fits recoil shouldn't be an issue with any cartridge, over 1200 on 3 days back to back this week 34/3s and 35/4s no issues. Last weeks 3 days 750 40/4s on 1day and 300 34/3 on each of the other 2 and no issues.
