TIGHTCHOKE
Or someone pulled the plug out! You should get your rod out, it may concentrate the fish that you could catch. Edited July 16, 2020 by TIGHTCHOKE

Mice!
There were stories last year I think about water levels being low, possibly year before so the locks weren't being used because of the amount of water needed.
MirokuMK70
Interesting that the shelves and the boat track aren't as defined as certainly I always think them to be...
JohnfromUK
It happens fairly regularly; https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5968205/Who-pulled-plug-Canal-barges-left-high-dry-boater-left-paddles-open-lock.html https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/news-and-views/news/40-years-since-workers-pulled-the-plug-in-chesterfield https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/who-pulled-plug-stalybridge-canal-8049127 Usually - it is gates left open, but it can be the 'plug pulled out'. Many canals are fed from natural water flow (rivers and streams) either by gravity of sometimes pumped, and a few have dedicated reservoirs like the one that suffered dam collapse threats last year (Whaley Bridge) https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/aug/01/uk-weather-homes-evacuated-floods-hit-north-of-england There are some preserved steam beam pumping engines to fill the Kennet and Avon canal at Crofton in Wiltshire (south of Marlborough). https://www.croftonbeamengines.org/
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, with future weather forecasts saying we are going to have hotter summers then account for a rise in the population we shall see more of this low or no water in our rivers/ streams/canals/lakes add to that pollution/abstraction it will be a very different landscape for future generations

Now that would be an interesting call to the Narrow Boat owners.
ditchman
apart from a bit of silt the canal looks fine...................the worst thing you can do to a canal is to drain it.......the sides start to cave in...and the wood on the locks start to deteriate ... My mates late father worked on the dredging barges when they cleaned the black Country canals in the 80s, he has a massive collection of handguns that he'd dredged up , and he said that he always found them near to bridges. sportsbob
It looks like it is in need of dredging to me perhaps some of the local unemployed hood rats should be forcibly enlisted by the DHSS to earn some of their keep. 😀👍

GingerCat
A pond in a busy London parked was dredged every 3 years or so. It always had a least 3 guns in it along with god knows what else.
