Just seen Ryan airs new add regarding new Covid-19 vaccines telling people to “ jab and go “  , don’t know about anyone else but I find it highly irresponsible

Why is it irresponsible? It’s just an advert telling people that once the vaccine becomes widely available then the airways will open up again. The only thing insulting about it is the fact that it’s Ryanair.

Most folks don't have any problem having the vaccinations required for foreign holiday destinations. Why anyone would want to cram on a plane with hundreds of other people without having had the covid vaccination I don't know.

Because the risk of covid is relatively minor for most people. You take a risk every time you step outside the door, you take a risk when you drive your car, you take a risk when you get on a plane regardless of covid. Many people just don’t want to be locked away for ever.

Whereas I hope it is....... make it compulsory then hopefully people don’t bring it back and vice versa don’t take it with them in the first place.

The scientist on TV the other day said that there is no evidence yet to prove that the vaccine doesn’t stop you transmitting the virus. Only that it stops you getting ill from it.

If you don't get ill from it - you will probably have both a lower viral load and be less likely to be coughing and exhaling droplets - and so less likely to spread it.

I just hope the 'jab' isn't a prerequisite for the 'go'

Obviously it is .otherwise the advert would just say  "go "

I hope it isn't.

They in theory do have to say that as it will take ages to get the evidence. Fundamentally we don’t get the problem with every other disease we are vaccinated against.  The other side of it is you go on a plane and everyone has been vaccinated then it’s not an issue if you pass it on or not.

And if you have been vaccinated why would you be worried if others weren’t?

Because the more instances of Covid 19 viral infection (serious, mild or asymptomatic) there are - the more mutations there will be - and sooner or later there may be a mutation that is either much more serious, or not covered by the vaccine.  The lower the levels of Covid 19 can be kept, the lower the number of mutations that will occur.

To get the economy up and running properly again and have people able to travel safely again, there virus (worldwide) needs to be minimised.  At present the only route to that is by vaccination of as high a percentage as can be managed.

Which is why education is important but it isn’t down to airlines to say what vaccines you need to have to travel. That’s the job of governments.

I won’t have a problem having the jab before I fly. Jabs are very often compulsory. I’ve been having Yellow Fever jabs for years before flying into Africa. What’s all the fuss about.

Because that is mandated by the respective government not the airline. Where do you draw the line at companies dictating what drugs you should take. I’m not anti-vax  and will have the vaccination but don’t feel it is appropriate for companies to dictate this.

Whenever I went on a long haul flight before all this I quite often developed a cold shortly after. Planes are super spreaders
