MARSH GUN
How is Nicola Sturgeon still in office. ? The list of issues surrounding this woman seems endless. And yet she seems to get away with anything.

Cosmicblue
NS doesn't come across very well south of the border for sure - actually politicians have a tendency to spout lots but not add much tangible value and the Scottish leader is a really good example. I'd vote for locking her in a room with Alex Salmond for a couple of hours 🙄.

Slimey Alex got her in the broom cupboard and slipped his hand up her kilt opening to find a tuppence, instead he discovered a tiny todger

The next one is May this year, we will see how she does this time.
Gordon R
Both her and her husband appear to sneer at anyone with the nerve to question them. A subservient media in Scotland appear to hang on her every word. Despite some saying she is bright, I genuinely think she is limited and as thick as two short planks. I'm sure she will do well. Westward
I know from having lived near Glasgow for a couple of years that many, many Scots believe that their country is largely ignored by London because they're 400 miles away. (They should try living in Gloucestershire which is totally ignored by both main Parties!) NS of course plays on this "poor neglected Scotland" image and it resonates with large percentage of people living there. She also makes a point of always doing things differently from the hated Tories and that goes down well too. The mystery to me is that Scots are famous for resisting authority yet NS is the most controlling and authoritarian leader in the free world and the SNP is steeped in a form of socialism which demands a subservient population. And as for why NS is so obsessed with breaking away from a union of friends where Scotland can participate fully in democratic government and joining a union of rival nations run by a hideously expensive bunch of officials and mandarins who got there by appointment rather than by any form of democratic process frankly escapes me. mellors
Would like to here her answer regarding funding if they vote for independence and get it. They've had billions and last time I heard they want more.

JohnfromUK
She is still there for the reason that she wins votes - and will do so again this time round. In my opinion (and I am no supporter of either her or the SNP) she gives a good performance on TV and in the media. She has managed to make it look like she is 'one step ahead' in Covid measures - despite Scotland's overall performance being similar to elsewhere in the UK. It may well be a pack of lies, but she tells it convincingly. Scotland tends to have a leftish electorate - and at the last election, the labour party were pretty much unelectable (Corbyn & Co) and she did very well. This time round - she may not do as well, but she won't do badly. It will be interesting to see how the current legal tussle with Salmond pans out - they are both skilled political operators. markm
There are not many people who I desperately dislike, but NS is one of them. Alex S, whilst not my cup of tea, didn’t get my back up. I’ve yet to hear of any evidence that independence will be a good thing for Scotland or the UK. I live close(ish) to the border and spend quite a lot of time in Scotland, as family is over the border. Move further south than Teesside (on the east) and I think you’ll find an awful lot of ‘The English’ may think good-riddance to NS and Scotland. Which is quite sad. humperdingle
SNP supporters tend to be much more fanatical up here than any other party. During the 2014 referendum, they shouted people down in the streets and (virtually) on social media. Mobs were organised when they knew opposition parties would be in the area canvassing. It was a toxic time in Scotland and not one i’d like to see anytime soon. As for the Krankie, I thought she was doing well through lockdown but ‘Indyref 2’ is firmly within her sights and she can see no other future for Scotland. Agreed - I was there (staying near Inverness) at the time. Locals there (fieldsports connected) were very thankful the result went the way it did. Vince Green
I know from having had family North of the border there is a continual "victim" agenda that plays away in the background. Classic example is the lie that Westminster has been stealing "their" oil and gas for decades. Westminster, they say, starves their health system and education system of cash . Then when you look into it you find that actually they get more pro rata than south of the border This endless victim signalling is key to the SNP's strategy along with the implied suggestion its all a plot. Classic left wing text book stuff.

Blackpowder
Living on the Border I am pleased to say I have as many friends in Northumbria as in Scotland. Children from south of the Tweed went to our Scottish school some as private pupils and some paid for by the local authority, they talked funny but to most of us they were fellow pupils. Work, sport and shopping and a bit of long past courting has led into Northumberland. Now wee tricky nicky wants to abandon this age old alliance , whose people speak the same language(more or less) and engage in the politician and civil service top heavy EU. It just does not make sense. Blackpower
