Perhaps you could enlighten us as to just how easy this would be to solve.and if as you say it ends the tories that would obviously open the door for labour so just how would they deal with it.maybe lay on special ferries to bring them all over for free.one question is how do these people manage to get through so many eu countries without the required visas and papers yet if i or you were to srrive on a plane or ferry without them we would be loaded straight back on the next ship back.

Cut off the draw that pulls them here, money, housing, healthcare. Make it very easy to send them back and most importantly, anyone landing on out beach gets immediately dumped back on a French beach, that route would stop over night. Simple 👍

If only.i agree that there should be no financial handouts.we do not have adequate housing for our own so that should be replaced with french style camps.if as many claim they have family or friends here then they should shoulder the cost of their food etc.but alas that will never happen as we have the human rights act and not forgetting the looney left that live in cuckoo land thinking this tiny island can cure the ills of the world.

But UK cannot dump anything in the French side of the channel without permission from France - who will make life as difficult as they can for us as their Brexit payback.

Yes indeed, I wonder who will get the blame, I suspect the French will blame the UK.

If these desperate people were stopped and given a safe refuge at the first place they got to, we wouldn't see this dangerous trade carrying on.

Quite why they still persist in coming to this country I struggle to understand.

But all the time they do, unsavoury elements will seek to prosper from the trade.

I hope the French as a nation can sleep at night with this on their collective conscience.

TC

Of course they will?

The French don't want them as they have no benefit therefore are of no value to France?

Obviously they receive better here? Health cover for all for a starting point?

Follow the money?

They sleep very well at night and often in the afternoons too? Wine women and no asylum seeking to bother about?

Their collective conscience revolves around benefit to France, first and last?

What better training opportunity for special forces than to harass the criminals behind this situation?

Well before Brexit we had the right to do so under the Dublin Agreement between EU member states. Now we are out of the EU we no longer can make use of that protocol. Which at the time was pointed out but labelled as "project fear". Those coming here in their dinghys will know this too. Once on the UK they cannot any longer be returned to France. So surprise surprise post-Brexit the numbers coming have increased. All the French are doing is dealing with the UK as we voted to want to be. You can't leave the club and yet expect to keep the benefits of membership.

Hello, I see a boat has capsized in the channel, sad to hear but it was only a matter of time when you look how many people are crammed in these small dinghy's , and yet still no solution from the French,

The French may just see that as a solution?

Does that go for fishing in others waters as well.

Well the fool Johnson was in such a hurry "To get Brexit done" that he clearly didn't bother to read what he'd agreed to regarding fishing in respect of the Channel Islands. In fact it wasn't this time his fault but someone else's. Who he yet has total confidence in.

Downing Street has said Boris Johnson maintains confidence in the fisheries minister after she admitted not reading the post-Brexit trade deal with Brussels when it was agreed because she was busy organising a nativity trail.

Victoria Prentis faced calls for her to quit after the comments, but the prime minister is standing by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) minister.

Asked if her jaw had dropped when she saw the deal with the EU on Christmas Eve, Prentis told the Lords EU environment subcommittee: “No, the agreement came when we were all very busy on Christmas Eve, in my case organising the local nativity trail.

And as at one time he was himself Foreign Secretary you'd have thought he'd have known that leaving the EU meant the UK ceased to benefit from the Dublin Agreement? Or maybe he was too busy and preoccupied yet again pulling his trousers up and down?

I agree, we should withdraw from the hra immediately. Also, if not genuine refugees, no family either, they're family could always move from the UK to be with them.

Yes we can, remember, they've come from France illegally, we simply dump them straight back, there would be howls from all over the west, but we do it anyway, it would only take a week of doing it and the dinghys would stop.

Be serious, they'd never have agreed to it, whether in the EU or not, we simply do it anyway.

Thank god for Brexit, we can leave the HRA if our government wishes. We don't need the EU for human rights, the UK has always done it better and led the way anyway.

Pair of clowns?Funny if not so neglectfully serious?

And this is the calibre of those we have in charge? We need some serious divine intervention?

The French Police just stand by and watch these desperate people risking their lives.

Why don't they intervene and remove the boats?

Even if they just slashed the rubber inflatables!

I think you know the answer. It's because there is clearly system wide corruption in France all the way to the top where they are encouraging migrants to go to the UK. It's little different from what Belarus is doing to the EU. The French literally have blood on their hands.

From a report on AOL;

"A clip showing French police standing and watching as people got in a boat and started their journey across the Channel was criticised as “disgraceful”.

The footage, captured by journalists from Reuters, shows a group of more than 40 migrants attempting a crossing in Wimereux, around 30 km from Calais.

The group, which included six children, are seen hauling a rubber dinghy into the water at daybreak on Wednesday. A French police vehicle flashes its lights at them to stop, before later leaving the area to continue its patrol further along the beach.

Dover MP Natalie Elphicke told BBC Breakfast: “Yesterday we saw footage of French police standing by while people got the boat ready, picked up the engine and took to the water on the French side.

“They did absolutely nothing. That’s unacceptable and that’s got to change.”

Elphicke said the British “are standing by willing to put people to help” and described the issue of Channel crossings as “a humanitarian crisis on the shores of France”.

She added: “These people smugglers must not be allowed to continue to ply their trade and put people’s lives at risk in these wintry seas

Whilst I entirely agree, the key thing is to stop them getting into boats - and that is in France.

  • The French do nothing
  • We offer to send police to help.  The French refuse
  • Talks arranged (supposed to be today) - the French have just cancelled them.

This will not change until the French want it to - and at the moment they are allowing - even encouraging it to continue.

Continued punishment for us leaving the club? Not heard much condemnation from other EU leaders about the humanitarian situation?

WHAT control!

Migration to the UK has in fact fallen considerably ........ but not that by channel crossings in illegal boats, where it has increased.  It HAS to be stopped by preventing people boarding and setting off in boats.  You cannot 'turn back' unsafe boats.
