Rewulf - a point worth noting. Boris has done a lot for the country, despite his detractors. His downfall appears to be little to do with policies, but more to do with his carefree attitude to rules and his difficulty with the concept of "truth".

Agreed , although I could say its an affliction common with most politicos.
I would also say , its a measure of your effectiveness as a leader, how much your enemies seek to bring you down ?
And the oppositions attacks on him have been relentless.

The likes of Rayner and Starmer, are the opposite ends of the spectrum, and its a testament to how ineffective they are , that no one bothers to attack them.

For the record, I'm not advocating undoing Brexit, we need it done and to get on. Warts, travel delays blah blah and all...

Good to know, others are have far less integrity, and still seek to undo the vote, despite every test available being used and satisfied, that the decision was fair and proper.
I wonder how many more years it will need before these voices give in ?

There probably is, but I would guess that, that percentage is relatively small.

I agree. There's supposed to be a >10% swing but suspect some of them are incorrectly associating Brexit with other reasons for hardship etc.

Are you actually suggesting Boris has been an effective leader? Serious question.

Is there a list of good things Boris is supposed to have done for the country? I seriously struggle with that.

Damn right, and seeing as no one else fancied stepping up to the plate these last 3 years, he was the best , and only man for the job.
Who would you rather have been PM  ?

Let's get this on the Record. Boris has achieved less than net zero. Worse than zero given the work that will be required to repair the damage. Fortunately much of the reputatiinal damage will leave with him.

Johnson, foot, corbyn a set of useless spanners that belong in the same box.

Would you rather May had stayed?

I still say Boris did well and Covid plus the remoaners have done him.

Although if he'd stayed squeaky clean and kept his zip up then things would be diffdifferent he won a massive majority and was then effectively ham strung.

To be honest, with a few exceptions, pretty much any other Tory MP.

Boris did Boris by being himself.

I think your mixing things up. It's not about who. It's about what is done rather than who has done it. Most people who know Boris would say he is along for the ride. When work, effort and boring grind to sort detail is required It's not going to be Boris.

Boris did not sort Covid Mike Stephens did.

Boris did not sort Brexit, it has yet to be sorted. May was on the right track but was caught between reality and Tory rhetoric.

Boris did get a huge Tory vote because he is an affable guy that people warm to. There is no substance.

The problem is that covid has got in the way of making Brexit work - and I make the point that Boris unlocked the UK a good 6 months in advance of the rest of the world and for that alone I’d forgive him of pretty much anything.

By now we should be a true conservative Singaporean-esque free market economy with a taxation system that gives Europe a run for its money. But no, we’re in the mud with covid, supply chain issues and now Ukraine.

For the lovers of Europe, just you wait and see what’s coming over the horizon for the euro zone when Germany ends up on its knees - that’s when the house of cards will come tumbling down. And there’s the mass migration of starving Africans about to descend on the Med countries - I don’t think the French or the Italians can take any more of that culture erosion. Everyone should read / listen to Douglas Murray’s books BTW.

Oh why is it that top of the europhile moan list is queuing at border control now - talk about first world problems 😆

Mung, that sums the whole sorry affair up very well.

Damned shame all the carp came at the same time.

Boris did his best, far from perfect but just look at the alternative, Captain Hindsight and his bunch of misfits.

Does anyone really want to be lorded over by Champagne Socialists?

I think your right regarding the problems coming to the EU. I just don't believe they have a financial grip with the euro as a starter for ten.

Not sure about tumbling house of cards but certainly inflation is likely to be a problem.

Queuing at passport control is least of my concerns but the cancer of restrictions in trade and knowledge exchange that slowly eats from the core.

You both seem very reluctant to give a name for this theoretical super PM 🤣

Whatever name you will no doubt rubbish it. The point is simply that the bloke did less than zero. Its not unreasonable therfore to assume pretty much anyone else would do better, super MP or not.

His supporters are bound to be smarting after pinning such high hopes on a looser. Trump supporters no doubt feel the same. You have to agree that the last few months have been a total distraction from doing 'the job'.

Hopefully we get someone that has at least some integrity but also drive to see stuff through.

I do not believe any other MP acting as PM could have got Brexit over the line even a just about better deal than Theresa May’s bad deal.

Taking into account all the opposing arguments, that still exist and are being voiced.

On the choice of next PM, in the current climate and with the list of MP,s who have put their name forward I would suggest it should be the most ‘inclusive’ person available regardless of their strengths.

Maybe Michael Fabricant, any other suggestions any one?

There are quite a few to choose from.

Ridiculous comment.

You wont put a name down because you cant actually think of one that wont sound inadequate.

Not just that, masses of people wanted brexit, areas that have never voted Tory did so because of Brexit And to keep Labour out, because they were, and are an utter shambles.

Absolutely,  without Covid stopping things Boris would have been free to do as he pleased.

And Winter is definitely coming.

Hello, more bombs and dead / wounded today, I don't think Putin will stop until he's run out of bombs,  made Ukraine a wasteland of destruction and millions of Ukraine nationals displaced into other countries, how many will want to go back to a home of rubble and buried , husband's, wives, children , grandparents and the brave solders, I seem to remember the USA putting a reward up for someone ? How about one for Putin, Dead or Alive 😭🤔👍

He got Brexit over the line by dropping his trousers to Leo Varadkar and the EU regarding NI, that surrender is coming back to hunt them.

6 years after Brexit and some "Leavers" are still getting confused between the EU and Europe.

Only a few weeks ago we were all about to get frazzled by Russian nukes and instead now, apparently, we're doomed due to the collapse of Germany and mass migration of starving Africans. Boris #1 fan boy come Nostradamus 2.0.

My faith in the Tories would go a long to being restored if Tom or Penny were appointed, there are serious issues that need to be addressed which requires serious people at the helm, not some clown trying to clone a three year long remake of Fawlty Towers...

Liz Truss, who voted for Teresa May's Brexit deal, another one who can't be trusted.

Shocking images again. I am a bit more optimistic and believe Ukraine will go all out to regain the lost territory in the South then after that who knows. What does appear clear though is that Putin is rapidly running out of "modern" ordnance.

Regarding public announcement of bounties, not sure how that works for heads of state, might be somewhat akin to a declaration of war.
