enfieldspares
Buy a cheap AyA No4....it'll cost about £150 to £200 at auction...send it to a gunsmith to sort out the bores and the chokes to make them suitable and then send it off to the Proof House to be tested! vmaxphil
Most fabarm guns can take steel though all the chokes including full 👍

On their website, it states the guns with multi chokes are "steel compatible", the importers would then send them for proofing at Birmingham to get the Fleur de Lys. Dangerous Brian
Webley and Scott 2012K. They also did a 2512 and 3012 (side plated boxlock and sideplate versions). Not sure if they still make them but they should be about second hand. One thing to watch is the metal to wood fit which can be a bit off on some of them. Hammo
I have a Turkish Huglu but its a hammergun. 3 inch super steel proofed with multichokes. I really like it. At £600 new probably a bit cheaper than what you want, but a super side by side none the less!
Fil
FAIR side by sides are great. £1600ish. RUAG Ammotec are importing them. Best lower budget side by side I've seen by far. They make the Lincoln guns and they never seem to go wrong.

400yrds
Yep, get yourself a tidy Beretta 471 like mine 3" chambers Optima plus multi chokes and steel proofed. Great guns and I use mine for everything even some clay pigeon shooting, used it on the beater's day last week and took 2 woodcock 3 pheasant and a snipe on the first drive for 8 shots 😉. I'm so impressed I've also put a deposit on a 486. Edited December 18, 2022 by 400yrds
