snow white
I would try to find out why it’s getting damp could be coming through the wall if it is you will need to put some sort of moisture barrier between it and the wall somebody will be a long shortly to tell you what to do

Diver One
Be very wary of the ones that absorb the damp into crystals/gel resulting in a container of liquid, the resulting cocktail is evil. I got a splash of it on some tools and have never been able to completely remove the rust, it just keeps coming back

Use them in the safe and a couple in the campervan help keep things dry on the colder trips. 1 hour on a hot radiator and they are good to go again. No radiators in the Campervan…. Of course they release the moisture, that’s how it works but at that point they have already removed it from the places you needed it too. Interested to hear how you keep your house/caravan at 0% moisture? Edited September 29, 2023 by Red696

Any dehumidifier is ultimately flawed in that it can never rid your property of moisture, hence why they have a purpose in the first place to remove moisture in a place where there’s moisture. The UK is the epitome of moisture. Otherwise you’d use your dehumidifier once then never use it again. Moisture will always find its way back, regardless of wether you pour it down the drain or dry it on a radiator, it’s a never ending battle. Dropping something in your safe that helps reduce this is always a good thing, regarding recharging the dehumidifier pack and it releasing the moisture back, simple solution take it to work and use the canteen microwave, or pop round the neighbours 😉

But thats obvious to most.

Not sure where I said 0% moisture in my house 🤔 I don't release any of the moisture my dehumidifier removes, back into the house, unlike with these moisture traps that are dried out on the radiators. Of course moisture will always get back in, just better not to release the moisture that has been removed, back into the house, thought that would be obvious to most. I'm not saying don't use them, I'm just pointing out their obvious flaw, of releasing traped moisture back into the house it has been trapped from. udderlyoffroad
Address cause not symptoms - why is the room your guns are in damp? Not good for human occupants either. Once you fixed that, one of these in each cabinet, change annually 5 hours ago, Diver One said: Be very wary of the ones that absorb the damp into crystals/gel resulting in a container of liquid, the resulting cocktail is evil. Indeed, if you must ignore why your house is damp, at the very least stump up for an electric model and tips its output down the drain. Or just get the Amazon one I posted for £8 and recharge it every year. Works better than the Napier ones which leave a white powder everywhere. Have used both, still have a few VP90 ones in the safe as well for good measure. 👍🏻
snow white
I live in a static caravan permanently and never get any moisture in the cabinet at all not saying we don’t get it in the static but the gun cabinet is moisture free and as been for the last 18 years. Cabinet is lying down on its back on a carpet and the inside side of cabinet is lined with 10mm of moisture barrier sheeting the sides and what would be the top/bottom nothing else in there only the guns and if one gets wet I thoroughly dry it before putting back in cabinet
Genghis
I put a bowl of silica gel sachets in the bottom of the cabinet - there’s about 30 or so in there. Didn’t cost a penny as I just kept the sachets that come with online clothing orders, etc. It’s discouraged to reveal where in your house that your cabinet is, but I will say that it goes through both very cold and very hot temperatures and I’ve no issue at all with any moisture. Imperfection
I buy them cheap disposable dehumidifiers from Poundland and stick one or two in my office (where all the safe's are). Never had an issue with damp or rust and i dry clothes inside.

Yeah, my cabinets have been in the loft since 1987 and no signs of moisture/condensation/rust whatsoever, and I never use any de-humidifiers at all.
