NoBodyImportant
We got hit hard by in the Carolinas. I lost acres of pines that are uprooted or snapped off at the trunk. But I can’t complain because we are safe. We had entire towns near me get wiped off the map. Bridges are gone. Dams are busting. Roads fell off the mountains sides. Luckily I was the crazy guy that had a couple years worth of food stockpiled. Really makes you think about what you can do more to prepare for disasters. JohnfromUK
I hope you and yours (family and friends) are all OK. Property damage can be repaired.replaced. It's the lives that really count. Edit - I missed the text at the top and went straight to the photos, so my post should better read: "I'm glad you and yours (family and friends) are all OK." TIGHTCHOKE
Well done, glad you are all safe. Your preparation was good. May be time to cut a few of the tall trees nearer buildings to save them the next time it blows through.

JKD
Glad you're OK ! ,,, like has been said, lives can't be repaired. All that damage will take some time to put right ! Makes the flooding here seem trivial 😬 I heard on the news, that people were being told to put their names on their forearms with a black marker pen,,,, so their bodies could be identified afterwards 😳
Jaymo
A frightening demonstration of mother natures true power. So glad that you and your kin are safe. Look on the positive, all that firewood for the next few winters.

marsh man
I can well remember the storm we had in October 88 , I believe they called it a Vortex but even that wasn't on the same level that the op had in his hometown in the states . He seem a very practical person and I am sure he will overcome whatever problems mother nature throws at him , glad they all came out of it in one piece. GOOD LUCK and lets hope lightening don't strike twice in the same place , MM
