I don't know about you but my god it seem a long ole night , I have been out for most of the day and had a nice walk around Ranworth Broad , the sun was out and the day was as good as any Summers day , I then cut across to N / Walsham to do a bit of shopping in Waitrose , the only small disaster was the free coffee machine was out of order so no free coffee , getting back home I took my dog out and it was already getting dark and it was only just gone 5 o clock , time I walked around a couple of fields it was dark , got back home and had a cuppa before I put my tea on , I am now watching the Antiques Roadshow and it is now only 8 . 30 and yet it seem I have been home for ages , I like the time of the year but these dark early nights are going to take some getting used to . How do you find them ?     MM :good:

Pretty much the same as you.I do quite a bit of work outside at home tinkering with stuff.I nearly always weld outside and do have a light above the garage but it's easier in the daylight. It does make a long night though.

The dogs started sounding off and horses got restless for their breakfast an hour early this morning, an our early to us but of course their body clocks don't go through silly changes twice a year. I hate it when the clocks change as it makes me feel a little jet lagged for a couple of days.

Simple remedy for all of that is to ignore time shift.  One good thing is that you can get out on patrol night shooting earlier with the longer hours of darkness.   Also the darker evenings and nights tend to keep the idiots at home watching Coronation street or similar rubbish.

Im happy with the early darkness, means I can sit out for a flight on the marsh then head home after dark for my dinner..and a small dram

I recon it get darker up your way IG a bit earlier than it do down here, so you could have a early dinner then go and get yourself a pair of duck all in good time to get back home before your tea is ready , one thing for sure , it is going to get a lot darker before it get lighter .    MM

Hello, It was a glorious day but now my walk to the river was earlier than usual as the first day of darker nights , my ratting can now start about 5 but will only be a few hours rather than the 10/11 pm finish as  to cold for old bones, shame about the coffee machine MM, my favourite is the Latte , I spend a fiver for a free coffee 👍, I enjoy watching that show to but alas no family heirlooms 😒

The same thing happens every year, yet it still affects a lot of people,,,, me included 🙄🤭

The length of daylight is what it is, whatever the time on your clock/watch etc, but going to work and turning the lights off, then coming home and turning the lights on winds me up ! 😆

I definitely suffer from SAD,,,, Seasonal affective syndrome, but as soon as the days start getting longer, I definitely perk up a lot 🥳😃

Definitely the best time of year.
It means the proper shooting season is here.
I thought this was supposed to be a shooting forum?

Not everyone has access or the opportunity of night time shooting 😉

I can’t believe how negative folk are on this forum! 🙂
The clocks just went back two days ago, and in another 53 the nights start to creep out again!
By the end of January it’s light at 5pm…..just admittedly, but heading in the right direction. 🙂

I know exactly what you mean, and to be honest I wish they’d just leave the clocks alone, but I like to keep a positive outlook if possible.
For me it’s the start of the game shooting season, loads of beating, ferreting and getting hunkered down in the studio to do some painting as there’s loads to look forward to, especially spending more time with my kids when they visit and we do a few Christmas markets. 👍

Now considering this has gone on for an awful long time how come you old people haven't got used to it yet?    :w00t:

They say as you get older the time go quicker , I can certainly vouch for that , it don't seem long ago where it was light around 5 am in the morning and I was out well after 9 pm to watch the sun going down , now it seems as soon as you are getting used to the darker evenings you are lumbered with another hour gone west , I know you have got it back at the other end but it don't make it any easier for us oldies , I might have to start reading some of Delia Smith cooking books in these dark drawn out evenings

Ah yes there are positives, a bit of frost and the dog and i will be out after Woodcock, out Wildfowling as well.  I do enjoy Christmas, Christmas concerts in home area are always brilliant. I also love seeing family and friends, and usually have a full week off. Its just now during these early days. I'll be fine pretty soon!
