Yes as long as the Greeks pay todays equivalent of what was paid for them plus "storage and maintenance costs" as they were purchased not "stolen".

Why do you ask? I hope there is no suggestion (again) that they should be? It so made me smile when visiting the Acropolis and seeing so many signs saying the original was here.

They’re not even the best thing from Greece in the British Museum!

I’d sell them back for more - in gold, in advance - than Greece could ever afford.

The Elgin marbles were legitimately bought by Lord Elgin in 1816 from the Ottomans who were then the rulers of Greece.  Back in those days they were happily selling off all their antiquities. They just considered them to be old junk.

The present Government of Greece has no historical connection with 1816 . They have had civil wars and all sorts since then.

No they are ours to keep in the British museum we have looked after them for a long time if they was still in Greece they would be a table top in a kebab house by now

These things are priceless right..... well if Greece want them back, they should pay for them, as Elgin did, and as they are supposedly priceless, we shouldn't settle for a penny less than clearing our national debt.
