JDog
I sat on my hands until 10:30 then drove to a fresh bean stubble where not a bird could be seen. I sat and watched until 12:30 and gave it up as a bad job and went to watch rugby on TV. Not believing that there would be no line I returned at 2:30 to find no line so I sat in the car dreaming up a flight line and by 3:00 it happened. Not being too sure that it would be a long flight I did not set up a hide, nor put out decoys but simply knelt down behind a low hedge and peered into the distance watching birds coming up a line up an escarpment. Plenty came and I decided to stay where I was shooting mostly from my knees which did nothing for my swing. The flight lasted for 3 hours during which time I shot almost a slab of cartridges at birds ranging from 30m to 50m high and wide and I picked 102 pigeons and 1 crow and I left the field at 7:15 totally knackered. Never before I have shot anywhere near that number on a flight line and I doubt that I will ever do it again. Jasper with the bag. From whence they came. My kneeling position. Lovely picture of Jasper with the bag, Suprised not to see more young birds in the bag. Well shot. Yeah, my bag of 163 on Thursday contained no less than 51 youngsters. Paul T
Great shooting I've been tempted to shoot sans decoys, but I always think, well I'll just stick a few shells out. Next time a get under a decent flightline I might just give it a go...

rich1985
Very well done indeed! I'm kicking myself big time, had a week off work which happens to be next to a permission, what do I find today, a wheat stubble blue with pigeons and 2 good lines, not all bad will go Tuesday. Small bean field next to wheat but no pigeons there at the min. Beans on another permission were ment to be cut today but going to be tomorrow or Tuesday so may be a go there over the weekend. Been too slow this harvest for my liking!
Passionforangling
Three hours on your knees is remarkable. Personally, I find kneeling for more than a few minutes at a time quite painful, which I put down to football when I was younger. A terrific shoot though to get over a 100 off the line. Certainly a shoot you will remember!
Wilts#Dave
What an afternoon, amazing sport I bet!! I've never even come close to that without decoys....red letter spells like that when you least expect it are the best by far!!! Bet you went home a lot happier than you went out
Mentalmac
Nice one! And you had a lot less to carry back to the motor i guess too. You could do with one of those 'Aldi' fishing rucksack with seat attached thingies - I have one of those, you can wear it like a rucksack and then sit on it when you stop. JDog
Nice one. Is that Cleeve Hill in the background? No. The hill on the left is the one on top of which Stow on the Wold is situated.
