Tom Robinson
Just out of interest does anybody know what the law says about riding a motorcycle on the road say to a clay ground and carrying a shotgun in a sling over your shoulder or attached to the bike? Thanks
Cosd
Pretty sure this has been done before. general opinion was that it isn't against the law, though riding anywhere with what obviously looks like a gun wouldn't be advisable. Break the gun down and put in a ruck sack would be my advice so there is no tell tale sign that you are carrying a gun.

Harnser
In my younger days I used to tie single barrel B S A direct to the cross bar on my push bike . Never even had a slip for it . I wouldn't like to try it today . Harnser
aris
I would have thought it would be much more comfortable to carry it on your back in a take-down type case.

Steppenwolf
AS others have said nothing illegal although unconventional. Might get some curtain titchers worried, carry your license as you would probably be stopped by the police.

Blackpowder
A Leg of Mutton case would not only be easier carried but would also provide some protection for the gun. Used to see plenty gamekeepers with a gun or rifle tied along the cross bar of a bicycle and in fact done so myself on several occasions. evo
I think using common sense is the most important thing here,,the best thing is as said break it down and find a rucksack that it will fit inside, carrying it on your back will just attract undue attention which in the long run will only cause problems, there are enough anti shooters out there so why bring attention to yourself, rucksack is the way, and away you go atb Evo
A1Decoy
I regularly carry my rimfire rifles on my back in a rifle slip while i ride to and from my permission. Asked the FEO at my interview he said no problem what so ever. Keep the bolt, magazine and ammo in my backpack. Oscar

69chris
Can you point the relevant legislation out, especially regarding this bit i thought that was the norn even concerning airguns ?? back when we were kids and taking out airrifles around on out bikes we knew that the guns had to be in a unloaded in the slip, and the pellets had to be seperate ?? fortune
When My father was a young lad ( Now deceased 20 years ago) he was traveling on a local brach line train and the driver stopped the train twice on a small journey. Firstly to pick some mushrooms from a trackside field and secondly to pick up a hare that he had shot from the moving train with a glass marble that used to seal up lemonade bottles shot from a muzzle loader.
