A dream happened today!

Brill walk today in the fine weather. It would of been great to be out first light today we had furniture being delivered 8am so I had to stay in. I got the furniture for my long suffering wife and long suffering she is! If you think it is sometimes hard putting up with me on here just imagine how it is for my poor wife!!

Any way it was 10;30 by the time I got out and soon found a squirrel.

The rest of the walk went well but no rabbits and few pheasants had me puzzled. A local shoot was banging away and I wondered if they had pushed a fox my way!

Shortly after that notion I heard a distant pheasant, it sounded alarmed! I slowly headed in that direction calmly, I mean a flintlock is not really foxing material so with that in mind it was going to be very chancy if a chance should arise!

Entering a paddock well I'll be, there it was, Charlie working away from me about 150yds away, I quickly tucked Tia in the hedge and I got in a fence line gap anticipating if it should it respond favourably to a squeal go the other side of the fence from us going off the wind!

A quick squeal and yep here he comes, got in position, cock cocked, will it spark, will it spark, then there he was as I thought the other side of the fence, gun on him, he brakes hard and just as I see his expression change the cock is released and even in the bright sun I see the flash in the pan and a good shove and KABOOM follow, fox down. Just 7yds :yahoo:

Man I love it when it is this close, out smarting a wild animal in it's environment, priceless :)

Some more snaps.

It truly is a privilege to be able to walk some fantastic ground freely with a gun. Also to enjoy wildlife going about its way. Long tailed tit, woodcock, coal tits and gold crests. Lovely.

That, Underdog, was a cracking read :good: Almost an identical day to my fox with the 410. I was out on Saturday. Took a truck load of seasoned oak out of the woods, dropped a pigeon with a homeloaded 12g shell. It was gobsmackingly beautiful out there.

Some can live a lifetime and just not get it UD, you clearly do  Welcome to the club :good::good:
