What's going on with wellies

1st it was Hunter, then Musto's ,then Seeland and now Harkila and Le Chameau!!!!

After disappointment with Musto's splitting within 7 weeks & 2 pairs of Seelands failing within 12mths I have just stuck with Muck boots. However they are really hot & the vibrum sole is treacherous in the wet on any smooth surface.I started to look at Harkila and Chameau (£150/£200 mark) but put off buy some of the latest reviews.Seems they are all going down the cheap labour route & the quality is suffering as a result.Aigle seem the only one at the moment who are providing any kind of quality,so who has them and what's your thoughts & most importantly who has had fairly new ones, say in the last 12mths.

In our group we have noticed the demise of Le Chameau ..... for years I wore a hand me down pair from my father, and then bought a pair 10 years ago that I still have. Rubber is a bit cracked around the Achilles, but they still look the part on a dry day. Fellow guns who have bought LC in the last 2 years have had issues ... all of them. I have an Aigle Outlast pair bought 3 years ago that are wearing well and I expect to last a long time.

Just been looking at these on Uttings

Feel your pain Davyo however I have just returned a pair of Aigle Benyl to Uttings as they leaked like a bloody sieve!

My harkila foresters touch wood have done two seasons picking up and are still good, problem is they are just too warm for milder weather.

Aigle parcours iso.....I use and abuse mine and they're still good as new a year later. Very comfortable as well, I use them a lot for stalking

Wear mine most weekends in the winter. Like wearing a pair of trainers! Wouldn't hesitate to get another pair. A bit pricey, but worth every penny.

Not particularly stylish, but I'd seriously recommend Dunlop wellies. They're pretty cheap, and even with getting a lot of hammer a pair will last me 2-3 years. That includes daily use on smallholding and for dogwalking, work parties, shooting days, the lot !

Sympathise with davyo - been down the whole wellie route with all the brands - they now only last a few months compared with those made a few years ago, the only way to get a years wear now is to get another pair on return..Aigle included.

I have a pair of 28yr old Dunlops that I wore mining - they keep my feet warm through their acquired radioactivity. After years of work, caving and farm **** they still go on...........

I'm very hard on footwear (due to a bad back) and just wreck boots 'n shoes. I bought a pair of Toggi wellies for around £80-90 last year and they are ace. I just thought they would last me a few months, but they are very well made and can easily cope with my lumbering gait! My only regret is I didn't push the boat out and get the zippered ones!

28 years has to be some kind of record, you'll have Norris McSquirter round with a clipboard soon.

I've had Aigle Parcours ISO for around a year and no problems at all, admittedley I haven't worn them over the summer but they are worn pretty much daily through spring, autumn and winter. Very comfortable and warm.

pretty sure Yorkshire trading do a nice pair for £60 look the business

I don't think you can buy better as regards the price and longevity

A full page adbert for posh wellys in a mag

Might cost say 4 k and you need to sell dear and buy cheap to m are the budget work if your doing that

I recon Yorkshire trading sell at least 5 pairs for every one of some very marketed boots
