955i
Lack of land, lack of time and having no-one to go out with I am thinking of just jacking it in and getting shut of everything. What do you guys reckon, would it be harder to re-gain a licence in the future if I handed mine in?
A.J.P.
What do you guys reckon, would it be harder to re-gain a licence in the future if I handed mine in? If you think there's even a slim chance of you re-entering the sport in future, it really doesn't make sense to burn your bridges at this stage. That being said, if your mind's made up, I see no reason why surrendering your ticket should disadvantage you in future. Other than the pain of having to go through the initial application process again of course.
sako751sg
Shouldnt be hard to get it again in the future if you explain the reasons so get all your stuff listed on here at Xmas bargain prices.
V8 90
Better if you can find someone to go with - keep/share your permissions & go as when you can. I gave up rifle shooting to focus on clays a year ago but I miss the rifles & am getting tempted to get another, I kept my FAC & a couple of empty slots ready incase
kaunda
Why hand it in prematurely ? If you have doubts, hold on to it and make a decision before it expires.
Squinting shot
The way it's going I would keep your ticket and just sell your gear it's going to get tougher to get licences with all that is going on in the world. Or just keep your gear it's not doing any harm locked away.

Your gear doesn't owe you nowt. If you sell it you get next to nothing for it and to start again you pay top dollar.....lock it up and leave it. Chin up old bean you'll regret it 👍👍👍👍 Regards Mark
rjimmer
It seems that quite a few FAC holders just pay for a few guided stalks each year to keep it. There are pigeon guides providing paid days if you are prepared to pay.
Guest stevo
find your nearest club a bust some clays once a week .
WinchesterDave
Yeah, if there is doubt, don't do it. There's no point jacking in your SGC, even if you decide to sell you stuff. Buying new stuff is easy, but getting another SGC could potentially be harder in the future as previously said. I think if you keep you licence you may be able to go out with mates clay shooting without worrying about insurance forms etc. It's your choice mate, do what you feel is best; if it was me, and thinking of being radical, it'd be shotguns and equipment first to go and keep my licence handy. Nothing wrong with 'giving up' the sport and keeping your licence in a draw safe for WHEN you want to go out and get yourself your 'first' shotgun again ATB mate:)
Scully
I'd just hang onto it and wait for the compensation...shouldn't be long now.

sako751sg
I noticed the BASC logo on your post and wondered if you had got in touch with them regarding their pigeon shooting scheme thats been up and running for a year now.Im presuming they might have some in your area for members only. armourer103
dont know if this helps, a few years back sold off my shot guns but kept my ticket, got messed about by the police about why did i want to keep sgc when i had no shotguns, stuck to my guns (no pun intended) and kept my ticket, back in the game now, dont give up your ticket unless essential
Royboy
Never give up your license unless your old, for the price of your certificate every couple of years you may as well keep it incase there's hassle trying to get it back
