Lasted 10 mins then started watching field sports channel on the iPad!

I don't understand why they have tried to copy the old format? Surely they could have freshened it up and made it their own.

Will give it a shot next week but don't think it will last

I was a Chris Evens fan on BBC 2, but he came across as an imbecile tonight, he is not cut out for Top Gear, as has been said, I feel Matt Le Blanc will grow into the role. Clarkson is arrogant and outrageous, but at the end of the day he would come for a pint or two in your local if he was in the area (Bathurst Arms etc). Evans you wouldn't want him to walk through the door of your local.

I'm afraid I agree with those who think Evans is the problem, prepared to give things a couple more episodes but this was just a copy of the old format with lousy front men. Matt may yet prove to be the right choice but disappointed that someone of Evans calibre couldn't figure out a new delivery or format.

In fact I'm disappointed he wields so much clout that some producer or other hadn't already seen this was going to be a disaster and stopped him.

I'm a bit on the fence. I thought there were moments where it was quite good, but it all seemed a little rushed. It wasn't as good as Clarkson, May and the Hamster but it was better than a load of rubbish that's often on TV. I quite like Matt Leblanc, but the Ginger one could still do with a slap.

Very well put, just what I thought.

Mind you I have found my new lamping motor in the Ariel Nomad.

Top Gear is a franchise that is sold around the world, so I don't think they can mess around with it too much. It's a bit too early to condemn the new show yet, because even the 'original' didn't really look that good at first.

I thought Matt did a good job, Chris tried way too hard and really does struggle to talk to the camera whilst driving, would love to see more of Sabine Schmidt, a bit surprised really that the right on BBC didn't feature her more.

But he did a great show called Episodes and that was very funny and Matt LeBlanc won a Goldern Globe Award for Best Actor. It is well worth a watch made and filmed in the UK.

That was down to the wonderful writing of the show.

Terrible. Like him or loathe him-Jezza has personality while Evans is just annoying.

After bouncing around the studio i expected to see Zig and Zag inside one of the cars.

I thought he was very Tigger like and just as annoying!

And I though Matt Blanc was a mountain.

Top Gear in my opinion is now a "Has been" It will never be as it was, whether you liked the 3 on the TopGear show before or not, it was those that made it the hit that it was. To start it over again and not rebrand it as something totally different is wrong in my book. It never will be and never can be like the original, it has totally different ingredients.

I quite enjoyed it to be honest but mostly because it was a carbon copy of the old series. I was really surprised though I expected Chris Evans to have reinvented the show after all its not like it hasn't been reinvented several times before. It struck me as lazy and came across as a poorer version of the old show.

Yeah...just about right I'd say. The possibility exists of course, that those in charge wont allow a reinvention. After all, it had been reinvented several times and it was the programme in its latest form which had become the worldwide phenomenally successful revenue generator it was. The BBC had no issues with the programme, only one of its presenters.

The saying if it aint broke don't fix it has come about for a reason; it remains to be seen whether the old format ( more or less ) can still succeed with fresh blood. Speaking on a personal note I think it could if they got rid of Evans. The format already exists; they just lack a decent presenter and Andy Gilman.

Yeah as I said I did enjoy it and I have to say Matt Le Blanc was really good and it chimes well with the whole 'special relationship' and good banter we have with our friends across the pond. Good for the US market also. But Chris Evans came across odd it was like on the one hand he was copying the old show but on the other he was trying to make a sort of party atmosphere as though he was doing an episode of TFI friday or something. Didn't work.

I'm watching it now, I'm finding it pretty painful to be honest, on the intro Chris Evans is even trying to sound like Clarkson, if they were going to get someone on to do a bad impression of Clarkson then I would have thought Harry Enfield would be a better choice, at least when he did his Clarkson impression he wore a wig.

The guys on it before actually came across as being friends, and the dialogue between them was natural rather than forced, this was all painfully obvious scripted stuff that they'd learned before the show, I'm sure they had a script before, but it wasn't obvious.

I'll cut them a little slack as it's the first episode of a show that is probably pretty difficult to step into, but it would have to improve massively for me to watch more than the first couple of episodes, right now it's seeming like a poor rip off on YouTube.
