shootgun
I can't belive they are featuring Edward King advising shooters to leave the gun and the cartridges by the door, the night before going shooting.... Really???

SxS
Is that whole section intended to be a "how not do do it"? The comments about leaving kit by the front door, seemingly pointing a closed gun at face (just after 13 mins), then taking gun out of the slip (without breaking it) and waving it around don't exactly help the message most try to send about shooting responsibly and safely. At least we now know that running out of cartridges mid-drive is "unforgivable". Yes, bad etiquette to get into that position, but I've given cartridges to people who have done that. I'd prefer to stand next to someone who has miscalculated their carts than a gun that presented safety concerns.
bluesj
I thought it was meant as a tongue in cheek bit to start with, but it wasn't
Redgum
Maybe the police allows the law to be softened if you live in a Manor house in your own country estate, Jeeves would probably intercept the local bobby at the door and ply him with champagne and caviar till the guns were safely back in the vault, exactly where a matching set of purdeys should be. Oh and make sure you have plenty of squibs, thought they were dud shells, save on pheasant numbers I suppose.

JDog
Hunting folk thought that posh people, retired Brigadiers and the like would make good figureheads and spokesmen. Look what happened to hunting. Edward King does a lot for shooting but he projects the wrong image in these cameos.
Lloyd90
Good god! I wonder if he will get getting a knock from his local FEO tocome remove his guns, anyone else openly admitting to such wreckless behaviour would be.

Dougy
Just goes to show the difference in class in this country. Some are or think they they are above the law, and would very likely just laugh in the face of the local police force who attempt to confiscated there firearms. I'll gladly stay as I am thanks if ever offered a life swap.
welshwarrior
I'm a little lost by this idea of leaving your guns and cartridges by the door, it doesn't make sense surely your loader will have collect the guns and cartridges from Knightsbridge before he picks you up and drives you to the shoot. Why would one need to have a gun before the first drive. Edited December 4, 2016 by welshwarrior

Why would one need to have a gun before the first drive.Quite right too and if ones private secretary were to forget to inform the gun makers that ones loader will be collecting ones guns before first light one would have to severely beast him in front of ones chums, wouldn't one....... Imagine the chauffeur forgetting ones, car utter nonsense I'm sure you'll all agree! I was once working the home of what can only be described as industrialist, and sure enough next to the front door was a shotgun, leaning against the cabinet which was bolted into the wall at the side of the door.......... The family used the back door to enter the property but sure enough next to the front door was browning medalist..... CharlieT
Extraordinary how some will criticize such a practice yet quite happily leave a gun in the boot of their car. But, hey ho, lets have a go because he doesn't speak like an oik.

But, hey ho, lets have a go because he doesn't speak like an oik. Slight difference there. One you live in the other you transport things in. I could be a bit pedantic and ask if the mansion was capable of being driven to the shoot. But that's just being silly.
panoma1
Peer or commoner, in this example I don't give a fig what they do, only that everyone in the UK that transgresses is subject to the same treatment and punishment under law! In other words "don't do the crime if you can't do the time".....I can't so I don't!
WinchesterDave
Interesting, when I saw this last week I was going to post about it with a link and I just completely forgot! zipdog
Has anyone emailed the team at fieldsports Britain!! For most of us heavily involved in shooting we all know it's stupid advice! However your bankers from London who pop down to the country for a few pheasants shoots might take the advice given on the program a little bit more seriously! shootgun
Has anyone emailed the team at fieldsports Britain!! Waste of time... look at the video comments on youtube, and yet no response from Fieldsports Britain... Is not the first time when they're messing up. Not so long ago they were featuring Digweed shooting pigeons at 90-100 yards and Andy Crow shooting pheasants at 130 yards... at least is what they said... walt1980
Is it just me or does the whole video come across a bit snobby? Isn't that a bit out dated now, and the sort of image we're trying to steer away from? On the other side they've got the money to make the programmes!
